Company profits can be 50% or 0%, they are relatively irrelevant.

All profits either get paid to shareholders (and taxes at their rate) or reinvested back into the business generating more tax in the future.

Therefore isn’t it better to be as low as possible to encourage reinvestment as the tax gets captured via shareholders if not.

The fact a company is owned by NZ shareholders or overseas is more an issue, but it shouldn’t dictate tax policy. That should be addressed by increasing NZer savings (eg increasing kiwisaver contributions)
Dividend payout doesn’t impact the tax a company pays beyond its impact on net debt & the subsequent higher interest expense.

If you read Karl's stuff and also Engels they had no idea that some of their philosophies would be bastardised and corrupted by the likes of Lenin, Stalin and the leaders of the proletariat until it all fell over.
Sad but never recognised that the instigators of Socialism were actually Bourgeoise and so were all the leaders that came after them.

Hopkins is under pressure and starting to lose it.:

Appeared on NZME’s Wellington Morningsshow on ZB with host Nick Mills and stated, in response to Mills’ question about why ram raids were no longer prominent in the media, “it’s cause your Tory owners at NZME have just decided not to put it on the front page any more”.

“It’s still happening, it’s just NZME have decided that it’s not in the Government’s best interests and they do the National Party’s singing for them ... so they’re not covering it as much anymore.”

So the Herald did an analysis: ‘ram raids have fallen from a recent annual high of 714 in 2022 to 209 in 2024 and just 45 halfway through 2025.’ Straight misinformation. Everyone ‘feels’ safer under National.

More deflection from Labour and an under pressure Hipkins with no clue why Nz turned to custard under his leadership.

What I find concerning is that National have repeatedly said that they are responsible for the decline in ram raids in NZ through legislation they're past and programs such as boot camps by saying that ram raid data from other countries like Oz, Canada and the UK haven't recorded a decline in ram raids.

Problem with that is that of the four countries, only NZ collects national ram raid data.... it's impossible to know what's happening in the other countries as they don't collect national data for the number of ram raids.

It could well be a world wide trend occurring outside of government policy and programs aimed at stopping youth offending.

You have highlighted a good point but this Govt has run a plethora of tough on crime policies and it appears to be making a difference across the board (with a few exception around drug induced violence).

Law and order is the platform you build a society off and I trust the coalition much more than Labour/ Greens who ran a law and order ideological social experiment (eg reduce prison numbers substantially) that time is proving was a failure. We’re simply not Scandinavian.

Keep the gang loving left (no need to start highlight the policies they support) away from being in charge for everyone’s safety. I don’t believe criminals should be a voter block any party should want to win…
