I would say inconsistent kicking game…
He’s got the skills I just think it’s mental for him.
Classic case of a schoolboy star whos had the confidence knocked out of him imho- that’s why he’s lost his running game too.
Thats why I think Webby might be the right coach for him- u often hear players talk about how much confidence he installs in them.
It’s gonna be interesting to see how this one plays out.
Given how Sexton and Fogarty went at the Tits vs their latest clubs, and Tanah was a preferred option over both of them (may need fact checking…) I think in our system he’ll work out as an astute buy.

I’m a Fogarty fan, full kicking game including goal kicking and think Tanah has a higher ceiling.

Time will tell but I like the signing a lot.

You'd hope so - news is clear now he is on a top 30, not a supplementary. Would love to see both Webster and Shaun work a bit of magic with him ... anyone know if he is over yet? Looking at his early highlights and the schoolboy rep stuff he did have a running game... I've not ever been impressed with organizational game, though have not looked that closely of course - if it works out it's the buy of the year, if not, adequate back up i guess

I see that Tanah has a contract for next year. I haven't been watching a lot of the NSW cup games. How has he been going? Obviously the team itself is going well but is Tanah ready for 1st grade if something happened to a couple of our first grade halves. He looks dependable from games I have seen this year and his time at the Titans but perhaps his game is slightly limited?

I remember him saying he wants to prove himself and play first grade here but that clearly isn't going to happen with CHT and Metcalf going so well. And then with TMM in the mix as well and of course Jett Cleary coming up behind him.

I am all for having squad depth at half back though and just curious if he has been working on certain areas of his game and improving. If something happened to Metcalf would Tanah be next man up or would they play CHT and TMM together which would weaken our kicking game but both are strong runners of the ball.

He has proved the best halfback in our NSW cup history imo and that includes Johnsons year as an Auckland Vulcan in the NSW cup (look Johnson was a kid, Tannah is a man end of discussion).

Yes he should step straight in if Luke is injured and yes he is ready.

He is the main reason our NSW cup side is leading the comp, while TMM has been the most exciting running half in that comp, Tannah has been the organizer.

We are very lucky to have him and it is amazing he took another year under the Warriors even though he has not seen FG.

He is a great example of what McFadden and Webster are doing to this failed club, making it look top down like any top Australian club.

That is exactly what I was hoping to hear. So if Metcalf goes down, we have someone who can slot in who is in form and will do the job. I know he has always had a decent kicking game.

I am going to try and start watching the NSW cup every week and really analysing the players. Having Healey at 9 and Boyd at 7 sounds like a dominating duo this season.

I am sure he is hungry for first grade though. Must be tough having the Daly M leader in the spot you want.

This isn't the right post but I am super impressed with Healey. I think he has huge potential and I want to see him locked down long-term. The problem is having Egan ahead of you will not make you want to do that.

Quite honestly if Metcalf and Channel went down Tannah and TMM have formed a combination that would slot straight in, which is McFaddens thing.

This has not happened by accident.

McFadden has been chasing Australian spine players like never seen at this club before and now we can see why.

To add onto what others have said. On the latest episode (18/06/25) of the running it stright podcast they have an interview with webster. He said "our best trainer everyday is Byod. He's a real big reason why we're winning at the NRL level, even though he hasn't played a game this year yet".

Now i personally don't rate him super highly as he is a bit to "traditional" when it comes to a half. But i think thats a taste thing. If he was ever to get the call up to be number 7, i think he'd do a very good job. I also think he has played better in NSW cup with us then he did at the titans. Plus he also wants to be here, as he has stayed with his mutual option to stick with the club this year instead of going to the cowboys to play hooker.

Bit sad that @Inruin has been gone for quite a while now, as i think he had some good insights. But i woulda thought if anyone could give you a deep dive on why byod is good player it would be him.

Thank you for the insight. It shows great character is Tanah is the best trainer in the team even though he is not in first grade.

The club is definitely signing the right people. Is great to see. I look forward to watching more of Tanah in NSW cup this week.

I will say the one year extension is giving might be interested in going to the bears, just hanging here getting paid and helping with the halves / NSW cup in the mean time.

And for the club having him as an option to extend as a plug and play half would be great with the chance metcalf might want to go back Sydney.

I think it's a smart move, not only does he become a potential target for the Bears, but timing his contract to end at the same time as Metcalf's, means if Metcalf doesn't resign, he's in the box position to become our starting halfback.

Hedging his bets well.
