Next year their goal will be to win the game that is in front of them, and that is all.
This is the serious answer. It's turned into a bit of a meme (thanks Kearney) but you become and maintain success by focusing on and improving your process of winning, not by focusing on the outcome of winning itself.

I know one thing for certain, all Webster will talk about all season is 'this weeks game'.

Sure they will have KPI's and all that bollocks, but they won't fall into the trap of talking about top four and all the rest of it.

You can have egg on your face pretty smart in this comp hey, like when Owen Glen and the Fraudster held a presser to make a special announcement that the Warriors were going to be the best sporting franchise in the world.

Agree about "this week's game only" attitude..
I went for top 8... other teams have recruited really well and top players returning so comp will be even tighter IMO. 2pts could make a huge difference between making the 8 or out.
There's also other factors like injuries suspensions officials etc etc..
The Webby honeymoons over now. The business of winning a GF really gets going. I believe Webby and Co may get subtley ruthless this year and some players will get found out if not already and weeded out. Maybe ok regular season but haven't got the brains and skill for GF level footy.
I reckon the advanced preseason from last year may start the ball rolling..... but we'll see...

Back on the 15th of November.

Back on the 15th of November.

A later start than a lot of clubs along with Penrith and the Storm.

I guess clubs that have their shit together and are not desperate, the ones that know their preseasons work, get to have a little more time off.

The 2024 Goal: Still leaning on 5th. Maybe 6th. We had a pretty good season with injuries to senior players. Don't think we can expect that every season but I think with the attitude and resiliance the Warriors are building we might be starting to learn how to live with it if it happens.

Interesting reading that article about return dates.

Always wonder about the thought processes about preseason:
How much of pre-Christmas is purely fitness and weights work, no sign of a Steeden any-damn-where. When do you start to do the rugby league focussed work?
How zany/crazy do you make the non-rugby league training? I recall one season where the Warriors had an egg-and-spoon race (some video they put on the website) which I guess breaks the risk of monotony of "Running around the bloody field" etc.

I guess part of the logic of pre-season start date is "When are enough guys going to be available to make things like wrestling training, opposed sessions etc viable?" That was, I think, one comment about pre-season training start date in November 2022 - basically they had enough players there to make it worthwhile.

I guess, also, it's not just about the players. If you're promoting a trainer/coach to a new position, he's going to need more time to get things bedded in so therefore the players need to be ready to start earlier.
