The key word about Metcalf is "potential". He's been paid handsomely by the club for potential after a lot of investment re rehab, etc. I think we'd all agree that this potential hasn't materialized yet. He's also older than Boyd, so this whole notion that "his ceiling is higher than Boyd" is not something that I agree with. We've seen how much Boyd has improved in just one off-season under Webby, are we really sure that given more years under webby, he won't continue to improve at the same pace? Fogarty, Cody Walker, etc weren't regular first grader until the age of 26/27. Boyd is only 25 so he is right on schedule to become one of the top tier halves of this competition given time.

If the sharks want him, we should demand KL Iro for compensation.
They club stood by him until they replaced him with Tanah. After re-signing in October, Metcalf would have thought the job (rightly) was his. I 100% think they club has made the right decision but I 100% understand where Metcalf is coming from. Realistically there's no path back to the 7 jersey for him here.
The club which wouldn't release him to us in the first place and then took AFB ahead of time? I have a rusty metal garden tool they can fuck themselves with.
They seem pretty confident that this is the case.
As always I won't relax fully till an official club announcement.

It is pretty obvious with the absolute silence about the Metcalf situation that the Warriors are fully engaged on making sure they lock down Boyd before commenting.
If we have got Tanah for three years it is unprecedented, the first time an in form Australian half has signed after doing such a long stint in our reserve grade system as an NRL player from another club.
When does that ever happen? you sign a bloke for depth in the NSW cup and they play their way into a three year top side deal in the main chair with an accompanying NRL media come back story?
If it all works out, it will be an NRL fairy tale, young star, falls away as an NRL player at a terrible club, can only get one year Reggies contracts in NZ, goes on to be the form half of the opening rounds of the season while filling in....the part in the story where he is up against the return of a Dally M candidate from last season is like it was written by script writers.....

Take it with a pinch of salt and Feel free to believe this or not, but I am pretty closely tied in with someone involved with Perth Bears. They are not chasing him. Whispers are that Metcalf is “hard work” And his attitude around certain things isn’t great and the warriors would be very comfortable if he left, short of saying they want him out.
Basically if he leaves at this point you can safely assume it is with Webby and Cams blessing.

MASSIVE for the Warriors if true. Gives us a controlling half heading into his prime and elite kicking/passing game. Im 100% sure the leadership group were considered in this process. Hope it's true can't see it debunked from here, that's our 7 for the long term and he either retire with us being an elite or Jett/Thompson overtakes him in 3-4 years so we're all good. The $$ will be interesting.

This is really crazy. The guy said he wanted to play 7 at NRL level, the club signed him to play 7 at anyone when a number of other clubs would have signed as 7, things have gone unexpectedly and he's the second choice 7 and second choice 6, this isn't what he signed up for, he's asked to have a talk to gauge his prospects presumably, and if it's not looking good, to move to another club, which, by the way, would be good for our club too. There doesn't have to be a bad guy here.
Mark my words by the way. If Metcalf moves on, he will go with Webster's and George's blessing and good will. Because those guys are mature and level headed.
