General Your 2025 team

If we’re working out Blueys round the bye warps the result. We need to judge on 6 games played for consistency with Blueys season?

I have us:

Raiders W 60/40
Manly 50/50 we struggle with their size
Rooster L
Tigers W
Storm L
Bye
Broncos 40/60 we struggle with their speed

How we go against the other mid table top 8 contenders will determine where we’re at. Lose to all them and it’s a Bluey season. Wins against top 4 Roosters or Storm and it sets us up for a great season.

3 wins plus the bye I think is par.
yeah I agree with that summation. All I was trying to say is that with the way our draw is made up and the unpredictable nature of the first 6-12 rounds in terms of results and form, a start that has us with 2 wins and a bye from the first 7 rounds would likely have us mid table and isn't the end to our season. The biggest factor for me that will determine our season is the style of play and how we are defending in those first 5-6 rounds. I can see us coming home strong at the back end of the season if we get a good run of limited injuries to key players and AW gets the selections and bench use right. If he tries to get the team to play robotically and conservatively then we are in trouble. I think there should have been some key learnings taken out of the Panthers/Dolphins/Cowboys run of wins mid season this year, both in team make up and the style of play.

While the forward pack appears more settled i can only pick one player in that backline thats a certainty and can lock into a position and thats DWZ.

Metcalf will be there and while i'd have him at 6 it has been mentioned the club was trying to develop him into a 7 (which tbh im still not convinced he has the temperament or skillset for).

TMM based on his mid season games would be my starting 7 but there are question marks wether he could sustain that form over a season and while he has a nice little chip into the in goal doesnt really possess a tactical or long kicking game which is where Tannah Boyd may get a nod.

At fullback im conflicted wether we go for the safe ond steady Charnze or given that our attack doesnt look over stacked with strike we go the smaller, evasive, faster feet of Tauapiki?.....in which case i think Charnze could easily still contribute at centre.

Then there's what the hell do we do with Roger? Most are assuming he's an automtatic pick for Montoya's wing spot which while no doubt he'll put his hand up to do those early hit ups it seems a pretty wierd indictment on our club we have no ready made young fliers coming through and have to rely on a 31 year old to shore up the flanks.
Webster was pretty adamant when Roger signed tho that he'd be at centre, and while not excelling there had no favours done to him by moving him into different positions every 2nd game and not really having good shapes around him......and there's probab;y still an arguement with the salary he's on the position where youd get the most bang for your buck from him is fullback.

All our centres have pro's and cons Pompey, Berry, Leiataua......and potentially Roger and Charnze, im struggling to pick one over the other tbh......form will decide i guess.

So in summary i suppose what im leading to is that while im confident we've got the pack to be competitive im not so confident in that backline..... here's hoping Webby can get them into shape as a functioning effective unit over the off season.

What is on top for me is which See You Next Tuesday is going to take over from Montoya banging the garbage can with a stick during the team song?

Surely TMM is in everyone’s team.
Him and SJ just didn’t gel.
Was the man v Penrith and Dolphins.

I don’t have Harris, RTS and CNK because their 2024 form doesn’t warrant it.
Why do we think they will recapture their best and pick and hope.
They can carve up reserve grade to earn a spot.
That said though. If they are massive in the trials I might reconsider.
Massive though, not just steady.

Niukore is simply a prop interchange.
He showed some dash for the Kiwis.

There is no specialist hooker on the bench because that is a luxury.
Clark, Walker or TMM could do it if required for 10/15 minutes.

The Pasikala/Ali edge is too far out for me on a Thursday. Conflicting opinions on Clark as hooker cover these days, someone like Wrighty needs to do a dive on this in the offseason. I'd be tempted to inject the new guy Healey to spell Egan.

Roger?
If the Warriors can insist that the NRL have a Best Beat Keeper During Team Song Singing Dally M award, I think we'd be in for a damn good shot there. Everytime I've seen footage of the boys singing the team song - whatever it's been - over the years, whoever's been keeping the beat has been - as Lorde might say - "ON POINT."
