CNK being out is a bit of a blow, as he provides a lot. He's so safe and good at organising our defence.
It is a while he is out. The season is still a few weeks away then they have said he will miss the first 3 weeks. He's experienced enough that not having a trial is fine and missing 3 season games is better than 5. Sure hitting the ground running at full strength would be great but better to have him for the majority of the season instead of the start.
A good opportunity for Tuapiki. He gets the trail and a few weeks in first grade.

I thought the game plan yesterday with Tuaupiki was good from webby! He was popping up and supporting well! He's no CNK but he definitely brings his style to this team well.

I think if a centre goes down then Capewah can go to centre as he will playing there in Origin and Niukore to second row
My only hesitation is Jazz - surely he comes into form if we persevere with him??

Ale is just as good as jazz defensively, more dynamic with his running style. But Jazz is a hardened nrl veteran! And that will probably count for more.
I just think Ale is ready and if he misses out a fair bit of football this season and let's say only gets 10 nrl games, then his future is not at the warriors, he's better than cup this season.

I should have explained my post better.
Chris Satae put up 150 metres usually per game in ISP / NSW cup but then when they promoted him to first grade like you posted above he could only manage the 47 metres you said.
I see Ale in the same space. Monstering it at NSW cup level but has a mental block about playing first grade. What can get him to be successful at first grade I don't know.

All interest next tuesday on who is on the bench.
Jazz wasn't given any reps at dummy half in the trial
14 Lussick and not Jazz or CHT?

FG bench props generally play 60-80mins in ISP because fitness wise they can, that's why they make 150-200m.
They come up into grade and get limited minutes as they are eased into FG and have much more experienced players ahead of them taking all the available minutes so it's not possible to put up those numbers.
Ale may be 24, but not every NRL players trajectory is linear. He is doing just fine.

I also in my eyes remember Chris and Ligi, his off load notwithstanding, both of them not being able to bend the line. I can remember Chris failing to make it past the line of advantage sometimes. Often with chris they didn't bother to go high on him to wrap him up ball and all they just grass cuttered him to death and he had no answer. I havn't seen the number of Post contact metres they actually made but if my memory is correct that stat would have been low for both of them. They didn't look the part at first grade level just like Ale didn't look the part last year (he may have improved during off season.)
He has a much higher ceiling than Sao or Satae for mine, but each to their own.
PCM stats are hard to find once the season is over as the NRL app resets to the new season and you can't go back.
But his runs/metres/minutes are pretty in line when scaled, so not really sure where you are seeing the issue with Tom.
He's a good young player, although I see him more as a 13 than a prop. But those spots are currently tied up with Tohu and Walker there.

I can't prove my case with stats so perhaps I don't have a case !!! It is just the eye test.
In 2022 he really moved the needle with some great impact off the bench to my eyes and really showed well. In 2023 he just seemed to fold at the point of impact. Do you have runs and metres for 2022 vs 2023 can you calculate Stalefish his average metres per carry in 2023 vs 2022 in the NRL first grade? That would solve this with stats and would be much better than my memory. Only if you have nothing else to do....I would do it but don't know where i would source that from.
I'll weigh in if you don't mind.
2022 - he averaged 89m total & 42.3 PCM pg which was 48%. Only a 4 game sample size though.
2023 - 74m total pg, 24.6 PCM pg which was 33%.
For a comparison JFH Post Contact Metres were 32.6% of his total yards in 2023 & Leota 33.4%
