I’ve always gone Stacey ahead of Shaun, however you are 100% correct with that summary of the younger SJ’s strengths. Perhaps Stacey read the game a bit better, more Cameron Smith type qualities? But I’m now switching to Johnson.

Egan has had patches as good as Marsh IMO. He's just played in so many more games where he's also been playing injured or ineffective.

Maloneys career perfectly fits into the 10 years of 2010-2019, heaps of success and accolades (never could tackle) in a way both SJs don't - but most of it was not at this club

Can't remember how long Simon was here but I liked his long kicking game.

Both legends in their own right but I wonder if we are starting to reach that point where less and less of the fanbase remember Stacey as a player and the recency of Johnson starts putting him ahead

IDK 30 years is everyone from Stuart and Langer onwards – its so many players. I wouldn’t put Cronk or Reynolds or Ben Hunt at the top of the list of greatest halves either but that doesn’t diminish their careers.

Yeah look all I’m saying is Maloney is higher up the 5-8 tree than the SJ’s are up the halfback tree. But I’m only really raising a discussion point because I similarly rate the SJ’s higher as players.

Yeah fair enough- I guess those high error/ terrible defensive type players just aren’t my cup of tea- they can be the icing on the cake though.

Hmmm dont wanna get to into this because it’s crossing into wrighty game territory but I’d say they’re similarly placed although there’s been a bit more talent in the halfback pool than the 5/8 pool the last 30 years imo.

He was O K in 2018 , won us a few games.
But his best strength was being fast out of 9. When he was here he was a tad bulky.
