A lot of good times growing up watching 80s WWF.

A lot of debate over the years if the WWF would have got as big with someone else as the main star. They probably still would have been big enough to close off the territories. But it may have taken longer to find a big star. It was hard enough replacing Hulk Hogan.

Hulk Hogan with his larger than life physique and personality was the perfect guy for them to launch their expansion.

Even after his drawing power wasn't great in the 90s with WCW as people got sick of the red and yellow babyface. He manged to turn himself around to one of the biggest heels in the business.

Hogan vs Andre was massive when I was a kid. Then Hogan vs Warrior which divided the school classroom.

Great days to be a kid!

Damn, the immortal Hulk Hogan is no more

Like many of you, became a massive wrestling fan in the late 80s, and Hulk was a big part of how WWF became global to reach us in the first place. Then as a teenager seeing him re-emerge as a massive heel with the nWo was kind of mind-blowing, especially when WCW actually came on TV2 in 1997 as the whole WCW vs nWo thing was kicking into high gear.

Regardless of what you think of his politics, or other scandals he's been embroiled in, still has massive respect for being an icon in an industry that has captivated me most of my life. RIP, brother.

Weirdly enough, just found out going through 2025 celebrity deaths article that Rick Derringer (who sang Real American, as well as the kickass Demolition theme) also passed away earlier this year which I missed.

Very sad day. Great tributes coming through from his former wrestling buddies - Brutus gutted they didn’t sort their shit out before he died, stubborn bastards, they went back so far together, inexcusable!

As Wiz said, love or hate him, what he did for the WWE and Wrestling in general can't be overstated.
A legend that at times hung around too long and buried a few careers along the way, but still a legend with moments burnt into mainstream collective memories and childhoods.

Both him and the Macho Man being gone now is really a crazy thing for showing how old we are.

Rip to Hulk Hogan a legend and on the Mt Rushmore for WWE greats his match against The Rock at Wrestlemania 18 is arguably one of the greatest matches ever had the crowd on a string that night “He beat Andre the Giant with that move”
