Watched the royal rumble with my son last night- the last one I saw hulk hogan beat earthquake to win it so it’s been a while….
Funny seeing all the new guys- definitely stands out how much smaller they are- those steroid freaks in 80s were insane.
So many Polynesians now too.
Cody Rhodes seems a good character- the old man was good value back in the day.

The big question when I was a kid.

Warrior or Hogan fan?

I miss those days

WARRIOR!

Macho man ohhh yeah!
Memories.

Jake the snake was my favourite heel. And the storyline’s around the millions dollar man. The original ‘rich prick’

Andre I thought was a man mountain. Always remember 10 guys trying to get him over the ropes in the royal rumbles.

Loved those days with larger than life characters.

All went a bit silly for me when the undertaker came along. Supermen hero’s I could dig but an undead monster was just to much for me.

Macho man was really married to her and him and hogan had a real life falling out over her.

Mirrored real life with the macho/ Hogan wrestling fued.
I catch some of those shows on duke about some of the old characters. Jake the snake was a good, he really made a mess of his personal life. Kurt Angle was a good watch and fascinating the amount of times he’s done serious damage to his body in the ring. Really enjoyed the one on the iron sheik too

My favorite heels were Mr perfect, bad news brown and the one man gang- it was so crazy when they turned him into Akeem the African dream- he was white ffs haha

One half of the twin towers. I liked Jake the snake Roberts and Brutus the barber Beefcake.

Summer slam '89 (I think it was) was the best event for me. Hacksaw Jim Duggan teaming up with demolition, Hogan and Beefcake vs million dollar man and the new guy with Sheree, I forget his name. Beat them using the loaded purse. Ahh good times

Million dollar mans bodyguard was virgil

Haha that’s outrageous- imagine the outcry these days.
Kane’s story on the behind the wrestling was crazy the amount of characters they tried for him. One was a crazy dentist, another was to replace Kevin Nash when he and Scott Hall to wcw as Kevin Nash. They could see his potential but couldn’t find a character that stuck until Kane, the Undertaker’s lost brother became his role

If you haven't watched since then you have a lot to catch up on. If you try different years you will see how much things have changed through the different eras.

The bodies were pretty nuts until 2006. They had a death in November 2005 which led to them implementing a drug testing policy. Don't laugh. They actually did suspend guys until it disrupted the story lines.

If you watch various years you will see the golden era of the 80s. That led to the New Generation which to a degree had some smaller guys as they had to get around a federal drugs case. The New Generation was they went heavy towards the kids and gimmicks.

That led to the Attitude era (around 97-2001). Don't watch this era with young kids.

It is interesting seeing the presentation of the product. Going to dark arenas, to arenas and things getting brighter, to sets and hot crowds during the Attitude era. Then they go HD with the current set design.

I have young kids and it is cool seeing them get into some of the new characters like Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins or Cody Rhodes. They have the entrances down pat now with the crowd reactions or singing along to the music. Some good works in the current roster as well where back in the day with the steroid bodies they'd hit each other a bit and gas out.

It has been good with the content uploaded to Netflix.

I started watching the Wrestling Classic and Fully Loaded 98. A real contrast between the two eras. I know it's not looked on fondly but I'm keen to see a few shows I had on video back in the day from the Invasion era. Invasion, Summerslam 2001 and Survivor Series 2001. A lot of the other shows before and after that time I have on DVD.

This has kept my kids quiet as they have been checking out some shows from the last few years. I think our Netflix is restricted to two active users so it could get annoying.
