Lockyer retired 2011, head to head with Thurston for the majority of their careers. The award started in 2004. Fittler retired in 2004
Only in 1998, following the merger of the Super League and the ARL, did the awards became the official awards of the newly formed NRLMeninga has zero Dally Ms and is an Immortal
award
Lockyer was retired when Thurston won 3/4 of his RLPA awards. Uate has one of those in his trophy cabinet thoughLockyer retired 2011, head to head with Thurston for the majority of their careers.

Ok. Who in the 2010-2020 was a better player than Thurston?Lockyer was retired when Thurston won 3/4 of his RLPA awards. Uate has one of those in his trophy cabinet though
Despite zero RLPA awards, Cameron SmithWho in the 2010-2020 was a better player than Thurston?
Yes, but it wasn’t the NRLs official award until 1988.1979

Smith & Slater the best from that decade. I’d put Thurston more on par with Teddy, different positions obviously.Ok. Who in the 2010-2020 was a better player than Thurston?
If we can’t compare players across timespans, can we accept Thurston was clearly the best of his decade?
Ps never overly rated Lockyer. Good player but nothing on some of the others we talk about.
Respect your opinion. If we all appreciated the same thing the world would be boring!Despite zero RLPA awards, Cameron Smith
Respect your opinion as wellSmith & Slater the best from that decade. I’d put Thurston more on par with Teddy, different positions obviously.
Meninga still doesn't have an award when you include it. Fittler does have one if you count the 1997 ARL.Yes, but it wasn’t the NRLs official award until 1988.
Prior to 1998, the official award of the game was voted on by the referees and were known as the Rothmans Medal from 1968 to 1996. Between 1979 and 1996, both the Dally M Medal and Rothmans Medal were awarded.
Meninga an immortal and a completely different positions obviously for affecting the outcomes of the game. Meningas a legend I loved growing up but in a different way.Meninga still doesn't have an award when you include it. Fittler does have one if you count the 1997 ARL.
Personally, I'd pick Meninga & Fittler in any side before Thurston
Inglis somewhere in the conversation as well. Thurston definitely one of the elite from that decade however no different from the Laurie Daley’s, Langers, Stuart’s, of previous eras. Won’t threaten immortal status.Respect your opinion as well
Thurston
Smith
Slater
For me
Inglis has to be under Slater.Inglis somewhere in the conversation as well. Thurston definitely one of the elite from that decade however no different from the Laurie Daley’s, Langers, Stuart’s, of previous eras. Won’t threaten immortal status.
Yes agree, Smith & Slater will be the immortals from that generation of players.Inglis has to be under Slater.
Time will tell…Yes agree, Smith & Slater will be the immortals from that generation of players.
