Good suggestion for next time. But something that substantive would have needed to have been in place since round one and planned for. I also remember that when we have had trades before we had to have them confirmed as fair trades by a third party contestant so there would be of a set up to it and some education to bring eveyone up to speed.
When we had the general manager game with trading it took a few days for the concept of a fair trade to settle in and be applied.

Happy to hear any other suggestions though and good idea for next time as I am sure Warriors55 would love to trade away one of his three wingers.

Indeed I would! I knew there was no trading before the game started though so its all good.

I never planned to have a 3rd winger but Mark N was too cheap to pass up and a slight upgrade on Ronaldo so I took him.

I am sorry for my part in our spat. I realise I was stiff with my wording when I said do it or resign. So I apologise I should have worded that better.

I have two alternatives for you to think about

1) Play Hynes
2) Return Farnworth for a refund and buy a kicker you would be comfortable playing in the 13.

You have been a part of these games forever. It would be sad for me if you resign and the game won't be the same.

Maybe when you list your lineup you state your goal kickers career figures & us players be the judge. No one is going to take the piss and go RTS (GK 1/1 100%).
@wizard of Tauranga doesn’t need to but no one would bat an eyelid if he put GK next to Corey Parker as he kicked over 500 goals but he was almost always part of a 2-man pairing with a De Vere, Lockyer, Ennis, Wallace, Hunt or Kahu because he wasn't always an 80-minute player for his club and definitely wouldn't be in this elite company.
In the same vein, @Muddogz could label Stacey Jones as his kicker and there'd be no arguement even though Stacey played in 3 playoff campaigns and had zero attempts at goal in a post season game

Possible solution.

I propose Defence selects Brad Fittler as his kicker (international goal kicked at test level)

Fittler has 16 first class field goals which make him a more established kicker than my kicker J Isaako (10 field goals), Warriors 55’s Carney (14 field goals), and apex predictors Holmes (10 field goals)

Crazy non issue to be squabbling over so Brad Fittler meets my criteria as a kicker

Does everyone support this as a solution.

I propose that Defence change his Team's name to 'Part Time GoalKickers' and be able to choose whichever he wants as long as he has a part time goal kicker

Even though it was stated in the rules that you need a goal kicker, it was not specifically stated that the player had to be a first choice or reknown goal kicker. He can be marked down for having a semi-pro goal kicker (statistics aside, lets face it noone would be choosing Katoni as a first choice goalkicker in a team of the NRL era).

If you accept this proposal, please deposit 5k for the advice to the Hodges Agency for good karma for the final round and votes.

I agree, @Defence should be able to choose Stags as the kicker as he kicked in First Grade and there was no specific detail mentioned e.g. must take 500 kicks at a specific level.

Also totally agree with what @Cces said about Stacey Jones wouldn’t bat an eyelid if he was selected as GK but when I vote I would take that into account especially if there were two or three evenly matched teams. The community is also smart enough to vote teams taking GK into account.

The only other idea I had was to weight the fan vote with a Chris Hodges / Mod vote who could take into account these things as well.

I think let the people decide when it comes to voting time - if there’s a reliance on a part time goal kicker then let that be judged.

As I said yesterday, this is just meant to be a bit of fun. The rules should be there to guide us, not trip us up in the detail. Everyone’s got other stuff going on.

Sorry guys, once I was finished, the game seemed to have got very serious.

My teams down in Rotorua already deep in preseason (and partying hard) seen as our squads complete.

Another day visiting all the local tourist attractions can only be good for team bonding (and the local economy).

After sleeping on it and taking on board your advice above I am ok with Kotoni Staggs as kicker.
I should have made the rules more explicit and I need to accept that I didn't.

I have already apologised last night to Defence and I stand beside my words of reconciliation.

I should have investigated Kotoni Staggs when he first told me. Being both a player this year and moderator has taken away time from my moderator time as I have been busy researching players. That is some context as why that happened.
What I wish i should have done was sought some group input in the process last night as i am sure some of you would have been ok with his choice of Kicker. Lesson learned.
However what is done is done but wanted to acknowledge I didn't get it right.
Let's move forward with the rest of the game and tomorrow is the final day of drafting.
The last letters are B and any other player not taken so far so should be some good bargains available.
