Social Wrighty's Player Agent Game

Can we just round down? Sorry didn’t realise
I am sorry rules around bidding have to be strict because it is the cornerstone of the game. If the bid had been earlier in the day I would have corrected you to repost it.

Not fun for me enforcing this rule either but I have to enforce the rules.

Silver lining to the cloud is you have $1.2M to complete your team tomorrow. Thank goodness this happened in round 11 as far as I am concerned rather than this happening with your last bid of the game in round 12 to get your final player.
So the situation could be worse. I am hopeful you will think of a suitable player to take instead.

If it helps you in anyway you are not the only one as I enforced this with Muddogz as well.

I apologise Mr B.

I still think you should ask the rest of the competitors for feedback. I doubt anyone remembered the rule

My decision is final. Other people were following the rule.
I get what you are saying that you didn't do it on purpose and were just putting in your whole balance.
I accept that explanation but it is a slippery slope if I bend the roles on bids.

Please accept the decision and roll with the moderators decisions be they favourable or unfavourable otherwise the game won't work.

I am really sorry. I know that doesn't make it better but I am.

I can't go easy on the bidding rules just because it is near the end of the game.

However your protest is noted. And I note that this decision has been protested by you.

Also where you said it is being pedantic for a fun forum game. It is a fun forum game and intended to be one but the consistency of application of rules is what makes it fair and fun for everyone rather than unpredictable rules that may or may not get enforced at my discretion. If I start showing discretion about enforcing rules then it could become biased with one person getting a favourable outcome from me and someone else not catching a break from me. I hope that explanation makes sense even though I know you are not happy with the decision.

@Wrighty my strategy was simply to bid all I had left, the only reason I had a $5k number is to bid was because of the Hodges bonus I received. Had no memory of the $10k increment rule, which obviously you didn’t either when you ‘loved’ the post when I made that bid. Isn’t this all being a bit pedantic for what’s meant to be just a fun forum game?

Could you ask those I outbid if the $5k had any impact on their willingness to outbid me?

I agree with Brownstone here @Wrighty . I thought you just had to be at least 10k more than the last bid.

That is a mistake I could have easily made at some point. That might just be me not reading the rules properly but that is one that is easily missed. It looks like Brownstone comfortably beat the next best bidder.

Sorry Wrighty my reply was at the same time as your post. Your post makes sense.

@Defence

1) Your war chest balance is incorrect - it should be $470K by my calculations
2) You currently don't have a goal kicker in your starting 13 and you must have one.

Just throwing it out there as a suggestion @Wrighty but would it make more sense for invalid trades to result in the player just moving through as an option In the final round of bidding?
Good suggestion for next time. But something that substantive would have needed to have been in place since round one and planned for. I also remember that when we have had trades before we had to have them confirmed as fair trades by a third party contestant so there would be of a set up to it and some education to bring eveyone up to speed.
When we had the general manager game with trading it took a few days for the concept of a fair trade to settle in and be applied.

Happy to hear any other suggestions though and good idea for next time as I am sure Warriors55 would love to trade away one of his three wingers.

I definitely knew the rule but in this case if wrighty wanted to use his discretion and award farnworth to u I won’t complain.

Well when u put it like that it’s hard to argue with Tbf.

Nah look I knew the rule, just completely forgot about it at the time. Didn’t even occur to me unfortunately. But earlier in the game I recall the $1 bids & having a chuckle at them, so what goes around comes around 😛

Perhaps if $10k was minimum incremental bid then initial bids should have been restricted to a multiple of $10000 above $200k

That way there would be no confusion around bids, overall spend and remaining funds

Just a thought for future games.

Yes that was exactly how it played out in my clearly limited brain.
Ya know, I’ve waited all these years for u to slip up- it’s kinda been your superpower- u just never missed a trick but now it’s finally happened I’m not taking any joy out of it at all- kinda like that episode of roadrunner when the coyote finally catches him then doesn’t know wtf to do.
