Some thoughts from today, meant as constructive so I hope are taken that way.

•Should criteria be submitted to Wrighty the night before to pre-approve for all auctions? Will avoid issues like today’s more often than not?
•Its really quite difficult to get the balance right between having a mix of players that are wanted and not having too many available, as well as not making the criteria too onerous on participants to research
•My thought process around todays criteria was that there were a large number of players that everyone would want and would have to concentrate solely on the one or two that they really might like as they would risk blowing their budget if they won 3 or 4 of them. It potentially would leave several that didn’t get bid on because of this + the remaining ‘elite’ players not included in the criteria (ie Cam Smith, Thurston etc) and push focus on to the next tier of players more. I get the concerns raised though with this and ultimately I think the right call was made though I think I would have extended the years out 1 or 2 either side..

There is a bit of excitement with the open auction but:
•It’s difficult to follow the bids
•The random cut off is too long – maybe between 0 and 15 minutes might be better?
•Its difficult to post multiple times without getting timed out until next post
•Its also difficult if you want correct spelling and formatting



I know a lot of time, thought and effort goes in to these games and they are never going to be perfect for everyone. They are great fun and there are always going to be tweaks needed, especially when using a different format

tyrael I am sorry for the fuck around today that prevented you from researching the target years correctly.
As compensation for the afore said I am offering the following
Feel free in the next 24 hours to look at the criteria again Losing sides (not winning but losing) from 2001 - 2005 in the world club challenge. Preferrably choose someone before the next auction.
If you spot ONE player you like you can have them for free if they were not drafted and bid on today.
I went through the lists and saw one or two (literally one or two) very good players who were missed.

I know I can't make up for today but we will learn from it by deleting the earlier post if we need to change a topic in the future.
I am sorry I can only offer a small token but hope it helps

I think getting the criteria through to Wrighty the night before is a good one cause tbh by the time it gets to me and Wizards i think im going to struggle to make one that ticks all the boxes. The one i had in mind is probably not specific enough and would have too many players available. That said i was fine with Inruin's original criteria but totally get the reasoning for not having it as broad.

Im ok with the cut off as it is. I mean its challenging for all those reasons you mention but imo just adds to the game (dont want to make it too easy for everyone). That said im back at work 2morow and between 5,30 and 6.30 is our busy time so i know ill be out of contention when it comes to the mad rush counter bidding......is what it is.

But I kind of felt I needed to make the most of the extra $400k and was worried I'd end up with nothing to be honest. Then I tried to push MrB up for Tuqiri only for you to sneak in and bid me up on Buderus.

Yeah im sort of after specific positions now and while i would have liked the players i bid on i wasnt too fussed as there's still a lot of quality available in those positions.......im guessing spending a mill on a winger wouldnt sit comfortably with u?

I kind of weighed it up with the other players I managed to get and thought while I have definitely overspent on him, the extra $400k balanced it out. And Sailor isn't a bad winger
