Yes, Damien Cook competed in beach sprinting at a professional level before his rugby league career took off. He was an accomplished athlete in surf lifesaving and won several notable titles in beach sprinting competitions.

Key Achievements in Beach Sprinting:

  • Australian Champion: Cook won the Australian Open Men's Beach Sprint Championship at the Surf Life Saving Australia National Titles. This is considered the pinnacle of beach sprinting in Australia.
  • State Titles: He also claimed multiple New South Wales State Titles in beach sprinting.

No golf would need to be at the professional level

Botica and Ridge played for the All Blacks
So is that only for the all blacks? Or do wallabies count? Is it anyone who played test rugby? What about provincial stuff?
Not trying to be difficult but there’s gonna be a lot of controversy around this topic if there’s no black and white.
Someone who won prize money in a golf tournament isn’t professional but someone who may or may not have got money under the table is?
I might just see who everyone else comes up with and try steal them at the end :devilish:

Can we please get the criteria sorted? This is eating in to valuable research time 😉

If you played another sport at the highest level or professional level So Jarryd Hayne is NFL counts. A professional golfer counts. Damien cook's beach sprinting counts as it was at the highest level. The all blacks count. Ricky Stuart if he didn't play a test doesn't count. Google says this "Ricky Stuart had a brief stint in rugby union in the early 1980s, where he played for Easts (Eastern Suburbs) rugby union club in Sydney." Not a high enough level.
We will say that if you played professional Super Rugby etc the top professional circuits around the world it counts

I am sorry @Defence I am not going to provide a strict definition or it is going to lead to people making angles if that makes sense. Run with the spirit of the criteria and I will make decisions on fringe cases on a case by case basis.
