Love a good home game day, and I’m kinda keen to see it a bit emptier. The East Stand gets way too congested when it's packed. But heading into the game, there have been a few interesting things for me:
  1. There has been next to no social media from the Warriors team or even the players outside of Roger.
  2. There have been no (at least publicly available) pressers. There’s usually one every Thursday.
  3. This Jazz shit-talking has made things way more interesting.
  4. The Sea Eagles have been doing a semi-tour of local schools, etc.
  5. The Sea Eagles just ooze confidence, as they should after beating a top-8-on-paper team.
  6. The boys feel like they have something to prove now—and at home.
What would make this a "good" game to me:
  1. Leka getting more than 26 minutes—kinda hoping he hits the 35-minute mark. And hopfully not at the end but in the middle of the game.
  2. Vaimauga going from 13 minutes to at least 25. Hoping for 30+.
  3. The halves starting to run the ball a bit more and taking one-on-ones instead of just passing it to the edges—at least twice from either half.
  4. Marata and Capes just being more involved. Not expecting them to miss fewer tackles, but I want them to run the ball for over 80 meters each and at least attempt to slow down runners coming through them.
  5. Fish or Barney having some big hit-ups—especially Barney, since he only had one tackle break and ran for a short 88 meters.
  6. Some fucking line speed in defense.
    7. Looking to see CNK get a bit more involved as he only had 98 running meters and 7 tackles.

This feels one notch above the Panthers' Magic Round game, where we were far from favorites. But at the very least, the Panthers had a few players missing. The Eagles, on the other hand, have next to no one missing and arguably look more dominant at the moment.
I don’t think we have much of a chance to win, and I’m sure I’ll be disappointed regardless if we lose. But I can’t help but feel pumped! At least the weather is good, so it can’t be nearly as bad as the Roosters game in 2023... getting soaked for a goose egg.
Hopefully, the gameday and postgame threads don’t doom-spiral for those watching from home and yelling into the void there. Enjoy the game—looking forward to reading through the threads in the afterglow tomorrow.

But man if we do end up winning...
