Honestly, it's not a big deal for me.

The ladder means nothing until the final rounds of the season. One thing remains true, constantly.

You gotta win as many games as you can. Period.
Sure, but the ladder position isn't meaningless either. All else being equal, you'd rather not put yourself in a position to chase games just to make the 8. In past seasons (2011-2017 in particular), we'd start the season drunk, rely on the origin period to bring us back to the edge of the 8. We'd then lose the plot towards the end of the season and finish comfortably in the bottom 6. To potentially be in the top 4 before origin is massive for us. We weren't even in this position in 2023.

However, much mention is being made of us being in the top 4 at this stage of the season when the Broncos are in 5th spot (with the bye and two points to come).
This situation is worsened by our negative differential compared with the other top sides who have substantial positive differentials. We need some big wins and no big losses to rectify this position, otherwise we could easily slip down the ladder.

It actually wasn't very cold at the game, quite mild in fact. I didn't think it was an ugly win, we never looked like losing, only time Knights got on top was at the start of the second half. Knights kicking was terrible. Savage was great and we're not sick of the team song down here in CHC 😝
Not cold in Christchurch means that water is in its liquid form.

"With the Bulldogs conceding 42 points against Brisbane on Thursday evening, it appears that the best defense in the NRL is now letting the Newcastle Knights have the ball." 🤣 🤣

This way. 2 pts for a bye is better. Otherwise you have to wait to all have had their byes for anything close to a clean comparison. Hope that makes sense. I can draw that out if necessary.
Why is a bye worth 2 pts when each team is awarded the same number for the whole season? If a bye was allotted 0 points, then the Raiders would be 2 points ahead of us on the table (equal at the moment) while the Broncos would be even with us on points (and higher due to a positive point differential), whereas now they sit two points behind having not yet had the bye.

We've only lead for 35.2% of our total game time this year. That's why I've found it so stressful despite the 5 - 2 record.

That's weird we got destroyed in the 2 losses and was behind against the Roosters till late, but all other wins were either blow outs or leading for at least half of the game

For those who complain about the byes and our inflated ladder position.. Here's the ladder sorted by win %

Sharks have 6 byes 😂 8 teams with byes affecting 4 teams’ positions, and we are now a full game behind Raiders; Rabbitohs and Dragons straight swap positions, even with limited samples of 1 byes for half the teams (wait till teams start having 2 extra byes)

Really spells out our defensive intensity.

Ranked in the top 4 for metres allowed past the ptb on tackles 2 , 3 & 4. Ranked 7th for metres allowed on tackle 5.

We are literally one of the best defensive teams early in the count. God that feels good to write.
