Would be interested to know what made Webby go with CHT late as thr utility.

It was a masterstroke.

His performance was commendable, but for me it strengthens the arguement that he should be ahead of Lussick for 14.
Don't think webby or anyone would have predicted Metcalfs injury.
Imo he was banking on the utility cover of CHT

Just one of those things eh. If he went with Lussick like some games in the past Egan may have got injured and we'd be praising having a specialist dummy half on the bench.

There was a game earlier in the weekend. I am not 100% on which team it was. It may have been the Bulldogs and they had a few HIA's and were going to activate their 18th man. It was lucky the way it fell that they had a winger as the 18th man to fill an injury. The commentators were saying how critical replacing an outside back is. To me it happens to be luck each week on where you may suffer an injury.

Some weeks the experts will be harping on about covering halves, others middles. This week it was outside back/wingers.

Having someone that can slot in a few different positions is looking pretty critical.

Probably as simple as Egan came through the captains run 100%, CHT has shown he can cover that role in the past two games plus other positions which Freddy can't.

These late decisions can go either way and there would be a number of things the coaching staff would consider.

For the 18th man spot it could also be a case of judging how much game time a particular player has had. They get dropped to NSW Cup to get some game time. They bring in someone else as a reward or to cover. That either works out position wise or it doesn't.
