General Warriors NSW Cup 2026

Quite a good situation
QLD time
310 pm NSW cup Warriors Bar tv
530 pm NRL Warriors Foxtel
730 pm NRL Titans v Foz
Fotuaika becomes the most capped Titan player with this game. Such a humble hard working guy.

So Fats Hanson and Tafua will play NSW cup and be on the bench for first grade
Maybe some late changes to Cup side?

Hanson is the interesting one. Seems odd to be named on the bench and Cup.

Tafua and Fats are reserves, which almost always sees them drop off 24 hours beforehand when also named in cup.

RTS is probably an outside chance and has been named just encase he comes good.

Only thing I can think of is that if RTS comes good then Pompey drops to Cup and Linnane slots into 6 in NSW Cup but they don't want to give it away.

Webby playing some shenanigans.

Linnane at 6 would be v interesting
RTS won’t play and Pompey won’t play Cup
RTS might end up playing cup game after this.

Connor Bowden at second row is interesting after generally playing in the backs. Linnane staying at centre will be pleasing for sup42 and disappointing for Dannevegas that he’s not fullback
You saved me typing that out lol.

It is a no brainer, the club is desperately short of fit and talented centers. Even Ali isn't an experienced and or reliable center if you look at his history.

Now we might have another Clinton Toopi (and what should have been Ruben Wiki and even Nigel Vagana) level of threat in our backline.

Why would he be fullback when the Goat, Geronimo’s there?
People complain about Geronimo blocking others.

I see it the opposite way around, he is holding the position to bridge the gap between this season and when Joseph Ratcliff is ready.

In that regard he is serving a purpose. Ratcliff is obviously the heir to Taine's spot. CNK is done (depth player, Taine gets banged up a lot so we need Charnze).

No slight on Charnze. But the thing that separated him from Taine was kick return meters. And Taine has found his role in that function by stealing those meters late in the tackle count.

We have hard running Wingers with AKP picking up some slack (amazing arc from the Titans version) and the other area that Charnze led Taine was in defence (try saving tackles on the line he is still better) but Taine is a much better last man on an enemy fast break, his ability to shadow and herd a player to the side line (the 14th defender) is elite and something Charnze never mastered.

Exciting times when Ratcliffe and Norris are ready. I think they should be in cup now tho.

Norris is 20 and Ratcliffe is 19, I’d rather see them Develop in cup at this stage. Especially when we’ve got Doyle and Amituanai who aren’t part of the future plans, more just gap fillers.
Have to agree. What if Taine goes down? If we had Ratcliffe developing in cup and doing well he could be cover. We all know Doyle will not make the FG side so why persist in having him play a spine role?

Stating the obvious but the coaches don't feel Ratcliff or Norris are ready for the big body contact, Norris too.

And there is a point to having the Warriors VERY likely future star back line all playing in the same grade together, they are essentially the baby Warriors of the late 2020s into the 2030s.

As such the longer they play together the more likely we are to win future premierships, this is future planning 101, something the Warriors have never gotten right. Andrew McFadden wears a heavy crown in that regard, this is his baby, and so many clubs fook this part up because they are under severe pressure to save dwindling crowds, shrinking profits, growing debts and frankly to save embattled first grade coaches.

Of our future stars, Harry Inch is the one that needs consistency the most, because he is learning the code, and he is a VERY special prospect.

The Warriors need to build a team around this junior marquee signing.

He is rumored to be a mid eighty percent goal kicker (bugger me if that isn't someone that is gonna grow into one of the great goal kickers in our game I dunno who is) and he is was renowned in Union as an epic clutch kicker (forty meter drop goal in tournament) that is going to win us more golden point games than our opposition and even draw level in the dying seconds behind by 2.

There are big flaws in his game at the moment, but they are cross code anomalies. He jogs when retiring in defence (his energy conservation is union centric, the biggest differences between Union and League are the retiring defensive line - in league it is a gallop because of the ten meter rule, in Union they trot, and League backs tackle a lot in the halves, and obviously the ball is live way more in League).

On the ball he is ok, but you can see he is being held back a lot by not knowing his players, and I would say wariness and uncertainty about league structures, new calls, and his players not knowing him more to the point. But he looks keen and attentive and more importantly he doesn't look scared, he is the one putting doubt in his opponents minds with his hammer tackles.

I know one thing, he is not getting burned and carved up like I was concerned about being a heavier half and a Union back. And that is the biggest deficit any half has in both codes coming up, they take years to become reliable NRL defenders, Inch is a natural defensive player.

We have to have him, on his kicking alone, he has to be in the future Warriors star backline (it is coming people we are gonna have a star back line) he is the type of kicker that other NRL clubs would carry on a Wing or anywhere to give them that statistical edge a Daryl Halligan or Mathew Ridge provides.

So yeah the longer Inch gets to play with Ratcliff, and Norris and any one else week in week out, the faster he will learn Rugby League.

Now that sounds crazy and cart before horse (holding back other players to help a Union player learn league) but if we truly understand that this kid is a franchise type player, then you shift the goal posts and build a team around them.

Inch sure is a talent.
Slightly different shaped ball so he's adjusting & only kicking at 60% this season.
His 40m drop was when his team had already racked up 50 points so the clutch gene remains to be seen

The first time I heard this I used it to rile someone up. "Is that why they keep dropping it".

Growing up in small town NZ it was make do with what you could get. Those rubber J.A.B balls that use to pump to different colours, old school leather with laces., to more modern styles. You'd be lucky if they were pumped up properly.
