Netball is bad too

Netball has a high incidence of ACL injuries, with 80% being non-contact, often resulting from rapid deceleration, pivoting, and improper landings. ACL injuries represent roughly 17-25% of all major netball injuries, mostly affecting women aged 10-19. Prevention programmes like NetballSmart can reduce these injuries by up to 50%.

Key Causes and Risk Factors:
Landing & Pivoting: The "one-step" rule and pivoting motions create immense pressure on the knee.
Non-Contact Mechanisms: ~80% of injuries occur without direct impact, caused by turning, landing, or stopping suddenly.
High-Risk Age Group: 10 to 19-year-old females are at the highest risk, with a 120% increase in ACL reconstructions reported in this group in some studies.
Inward Knee Collapse: ACL rupture often occurs when the knee collapses inward (valgus position).
Dude netball is predominantly played by women. They have fundamentally different posterior chain physiology.

There’s a thing called the Q angle (Quadriceps angle) measures the angle between your hip, kneecap, and shinbone. It indicates how the thigh muscle pulls on the kneecap. Because of childbearing anatomy and a wider pelvis, women generally have a wider Q angle.

Because of this, women suffer more chronic and acute injuries. We saw it in the military and now that womens sport are trying to be like the men’s, it’s becoming prevalent there too.

Did not realize the wife is injured too, the baby's probably gonna limp with them now 🤣 😭
You laugh but kids can be weird sometimes. Our oldest when he was still an age he'd be pushed around the shops in a pram. One weekend morning he had a limp. We go out around the shops come home say goodbye to visiting family, and he's still limping.

We decide to check it out, so we head to the A&E, which is absolutely packed.

4-6 hours waiting for an x-ray and the doctors. During that time, he starts walking around, cheering up all of the sick people. Of course, his limp goes away.

Now we need to decide if we see this thing out or go home. I still remind my wife for wanting to see it through and the boy owes me 4-6 wasted hours at some point.
