Yeah, and he was shit!

He's filled in at fullback for us a couple of times mid-game but certainly not a good option there.

He was also FB when we beat the Phins in 2024. At the time they were in the top 4 and we had to field a team of kids from memory. But not arguing that he's a viable option.

Remember when he played FB for the Kiwis and was man of the match? One of the best games I've seen him play.
I also am not suggesting Dallin as an option.

Neither am I but if we are absolutely desperate then yes I would. He has leadership qualities as well.

The Warriors are being quite mercenary with Martin.
Not even a one year extension despite all that is unfolding on the Telly.

I take it that he is being made to wait because the club think this is a motivating factor for him and playing for his contract life is best for all concerned till seasons end.

I also imagine that the Warriors do not want the specter of giving an ageing half a contract now, in case he picks up and injury (in which case his value to the club drops dramatically - a prolonged lay off at this stage of the year would eat into their investment in him well into 2027.

Signing him is a risk, he is 30, and the Warriors have invested a lot of planning into younger halves at the club.

Could well see this as his Swan song unfortunately.

It'd be silly for them not to extend him for another year since Boyd will be restarting again next season and Metcalf gone, 30 is the perfect age for a half also and he has missed a few years of sport so physically could be less worn out too.
He's so chill, a cheap contract for top end local talent is low risk insurance for the club IMO
Boyd/CHT/TMM FG + Jett/Thompson another year of Cup + Linnane to centre/FB works well, unless they choose Hansen, and Inch suddenly is ready next year

Gotta give props to DWZ his D has improved and he has been outstanding. One of the form wingers.
Taine also started to carve up when fatigue came into the game. Boys did well, missed a few opportunities but what a coach we have and the squad is now becoming top tier.
