Id try not to judge off of rumors. Not even the "I'm only happy to play 6 for this year" statement has been repeated by any other source. Only "confirmed" statement is that his management has asked for clarification on his role for the future.

People seem to muddy the water quite bit around what is real and what is rumor over this bye week. Or misremembering the past to suit how they want to paint him today.

I get that - but something is clearly going on.
He should have just hanged in tight - he has the multi year contract and a club that stood by him.
But the first signs of having to fight for his spot he's seemingly agitating, doesn't quite sit right.

Nah he said that after his first week back in this interview.
“I prefer playing halfback if I'm completely honest,” Metcalf told SEN 1170 and SENQ's The Run Home.
“I'm someone that the more responsibility I have, the better I play I want the ball and need the ball in my hands to do what I want to do.

I'll take your word for it. I don't really follow journalists all that much.

They club stood by him until they replaced him with Tanah. After re-signing in October, Metcalf would have thought the job (rightly) was his. I 100% think they club has made the right decision but I 100% understand where Metcalf is coming from. Realistically there's no path back to the 7 jersey for him here.

I would rather let Metcalf go if he is a million dollar 6, but keep him if he's a million dollar 7. I hope all stays happy in camp and he sees the year out at a minimum

Why?

let me repeat myself. Australian Tax Residency applies to foreigners residing in Australia or Australians residing in foreign countries. It doesnt apply to foreign citizens in foreign countries.

Do you think you could move from NZ to Aus for a year, "nominate yourself a tax resident" then move back to NZ and pay income tax to Australia?

Once he leaves Australia to live in PNG , he is a NZ citizen living in PNG.
