I have just come to the view that the Boyd/Mets issue is not an "either/or" proposition as many have hypothesized (including myself in the past). I think we can get to a GF with CHT/Boyd but I don't think we can win it. Conversely I don't see us getting to one with CHT/Mets. They both have to be in the team. Don't know if it makes sense at this stage of his career to retrain him in another position (FB), especially one as physically demanding as FB. So that's not the answer for me.

As unpopular as this opinion is right now, I'd like us to try the Mets/Boyd combo again at some pt, maybe with CHT coming off the bench as a utility and Healey dropping off. I totally get this might cost us some games/momentum and might be the dogs situation with Galvin all over again. But I'm not entirely sure Mets was the problem. Granted, he wasn't ready to come back but he wasn't the only change in rds 4-5: we also changed CNK to center. I'm starting to think that was the bigger issue defensively for our fall off. Whatever we do with our halves, CNK can't ever be center again, which I think is the consensus on here.

I think we just wait till CHT's injured or HIA'ed and Luke's the 1st drop half so we'll get Boyd/Metcalf again this year, naturally.

Although there's the chance due to defensive concerns others have mentioned and TMM becomes the 6 back up instead?

Yeah, I don't think webby needs to make a choice- injury will bring Luke back into the fold. As far as I'm concerned, TMM and CHT are in the same lane for 6 and Boyd/Metcalf are competing for 7. But until injury happens persevere with CHT/Boyd. TMM and Mets come back via cup next week. But eventually, I think we will revisit Mets/Boyd at NRL level at some pt.
