Not aimed at you.

But my belief is, so what if we signed the wrong half.

Sign the right half and deal with the Cap hit on the gamble you took on the wrong bloke, it is how every other NRL team operates, they all gamble on combos and big signings that sometimes just don't pay off.

Yeah Sup I think you've hit the nail on the head.

Still only a small sample size with Chitty and Boyd, but they've played really well, and on top of that the team is playing better around this halves pairing.

Id go as far as saying this is the best weve looked as a team in the last 10 years or so. Were scoring tries, our D is looking great, we're absolutely thumping players in defence and making breaks, forcing repeat sets and putting other teams under pressure on attack.

Unless theres serious injury, I dont think LM gets a look in at half.

Id like a slightly bigger sample size (say rd 14 or so), but if were still going well and Boyd and CHT are dominating you have to resign them. The missing piece of the puzzle for the Wahs has always been a controlling half. With our forward stocks now, and the exciting talents in the forwards and backs we have coming through, having a settled, well performing halves combo would ensure a smooth transition into FG where they dont have to rely on them like we have with Leka.

And the kicker...Boyd and CHT are so young that we could have this halves combo for another 5 years. Guaranteed we win a premiership or 2 in that time with the players we have.

Metcalf? Sorry bro, we wanted you as our main man but your body cant be relied on. Youve given another player a sniff and hes grabbed this opportunity with both hands. With the Cheifs and Bears here the nek few years, there's a shortage of halves so if he gets a compassionate release, hell still get his 900k-1mil pay day. I dont feel bad, weve put a lot of time and effort in to him just like he has. Both sides I feel have come away from his time here with positive outcomes.

This half pairing is what I think weve been missing since the Wahs joined the comp. As someone else said, a Boyd in the hand is with two in the bush.

Its easy to crystal ball gaze and try and predict what's gonna happen, but no one could've seen Boyd stepping up the way he has.
Chanel had a great season last year, he flew under the radar and now everyone is seeing his worth.
These two halves deserve a good contract whether its here or offshore.
The way Webby ignites players it won't matter either way, we can't keep everyone and something will have to give!!

Question. If you guys had to pick between CHT and Boyd. Who would you rather keep? Both are in brilliant form but I can’t see us keeping both
As harsh as it sounds, i think Tanah would be the one I'd let go, we'd still have Mets and hope he can string half a season together. CHT is a Warrior through and through and his utility value will still be there when the younger guys start making the step up.

Isn't the inevitability of the Salary Cap that you can't have a 1-20 Best Or Second Best In Their Position team?
You've got to compromise, go, "Eh, we've got one Above Average Centre and two Could Be Great Centres and one Going As Soon As He Gets Another Offer Centre, so that leaves us more Salary Cap to make plays for/upgrade Great Second Rower and Great Five Eighth."
I can't think of any team that's been 100% Brilliant from 1-17/Goalkeeper To Striker/Etc. Always turkeys/maybe gone on a bit long/solid but injury cover types involved.

There is a group of us who believed in Boyd last year.

I honestly thought he could be what he is now with some confidence, a full offseason and the power of a fully powered up Warriors forward pack.

His flat game and kicking game were exactly the same last season in cup, I kept calling out his good kicking game in the NRL game day threads even though he was coping a hammering from the fans.

Not saying that I know any better than anyone else or have some psychic ability, In my case I had no knowledge of Boyd as a Titan, never noticed him, never developed a hang up about him being a useless player at a useless club.

Pretty sure Tajhay is another that saw Boyd as a strong organizer and I know for a fact he also consistently praised Boyd's kicking game last year.

So there were people (ëxcuse me leaving out others) that have been keeping an interested eye on him as a permanent Seven.

To sum it up, the form he is showing now is a mirror of last year in cup but he has flash players around him.

Boyd is becoming a star rugby league halfback and many here will see that as some kind of surprise, I don't, I think that his time has come and he would have achieved this arc under other top NRL coaches given the chance, I just think the Warriors got him at the right time as a later bloomer.

I know in contract signing year its not a realistic expectation but as far as our halves go i wish we could just wait and see how things play out this season,

Cant argue that the Boyd/CHT combo seems the best combination to see us through the season proper. But i am a little cautious and want to see how they go in the games that count - a play off series where u need your playmakers to own the big moments. There's no question there's a step up in intensity from the regular season and seen many a season where regular season form halves just cant take their game to the next level.

Not saying these guys cant but seeing how they go in the big ones for me would give a better indication when it comes to re'signing.

As much as I don’t really want us to be in the position, we need to see him with the game on the line. As a 7 and goal kicker, he needs to be able to own big moments. Not to take away from his great form at all though

We signed Metcalf without that indication and paid him $900k....

Who will win you a premiership?

Boyd is the conductor - He runs this team. Great teams, legacy teams always have an outstanding conductor.

How many of these guys currently in the NRL?

Do you want that guy leaving your organisation?
