I hate to be a debby downer but he was bang average in cup as well. He might have trained hard but it didnt warrant a call up to first grade basis cup form and would have to disagree the club got it wrong (other then maybe bringing him over?)
there’s so many variables in Harper’s signing that we don’t know to judge it a success or failure.
From a ‘first grade’ POV, if all our centres were healthy, he probs doesn’t even play cup - a fact he and the club knew signing on, and even that he’d be behind Cape-wah and even Leka if disaster strikes (or even RTS and CNK).
So why sign him?
Ideally, A 50+ nrl first grade veteran and you’d hope a sterling role model and benchmark on and off field. ‘Here’s how I saw DCE prepare? In that situation, Turbo might …’
And showing here’s how a true pro player who isn’t playing first grade trains and contributes to a group
Does that lift the playing group more than another youngster coming in? If so, money well spent.
Was he really ‘blocking anyone’?
If he was ‘average’, last I checked we won the grade.

I know there was talk on here potentially about either Linnane or Inch playing full back, but have we heard any chat from the club around plans for full back moving forward. It's such a key position, and while Roger would be an improvement over CNK at least, surely there's some kind of plan or ideas for the future?
Would be good to see what their plans with both Linnane and Inch are at least.
Inch and Linnane are still nobody yet. Forward planning etc sure..... But our fullback hierarchy surely still looks like CNK, TT, RTS. Even if I don't like it.
