Warriors confirm no interest in Dylan Brown

Brown and out

They once tabled Dylan Brown a contract that would have made him the richest man yet to play in the NRL, but the Warriors have decided not to have another crack at the Parramatta star.
Brown has until round 10 to decide whether to stay or leave Parramatta via a controversial contract clause. The Kiwi international’s management is seeking expressions of interest for his services, with Newcastle contemplating whether to blow the blue and golds out of the water with a long and lucrative offer.

Brown was born in Auckland and the retirement of Shaun Johnson has prompted speculation the Warriors could again be in the mix for his services. However, the trans-Tasman outfit has opted not to get involved in a bidding war.
“With all due respect to Dylan, our club is really excited about Luke Metcalf and Chanel [Harris-Tavita],” Warriors chief executive Cameron George said.
“We’ve got Tanah Boyd and we’ve got Te Maire Martin all shooting for the halves, and we’ve got some good young kids sitting in behind them.
“We’ve never looked any further than those guys and that’s where we sit. From a Warriors perspective, we’re definitely not in either discussions or negotiations with Dylan Brown or his management.”

In 2019, the Warriors tabled Brown a long-term deal worth almost $3 million. It was a mammoth amount for a teenager who had at that stage not even played a single NRL game. On that occasion, the Warriors subsequently found out Brown had already committed to Parramatta, so neither party was able to follow through with the offer.
“I remember back in the day when ‘Sully’ [former recruiter Peter O’Sullivan] and Brian Smith were here, they spotted Dylan playing [junior football] – he was of interest back in about 2019,” George said.
“That’s certainly not the case now. No disrespect to Dylan, but we’re backing who we’ve got and what lies ahead with those kids.”
The Eels have been heavily criticised for allowing player options in contracts – Mitchell Moses and Will Penisini have them in their deals – and have vowed to cease the practice

Dylan Brown offered to NRL and ARU

Dylan Brown offered to Rugby Australia as possible Wallaby for 2027 World Cup via email from agent

In the latest bombshell contract development involving Dylan Brown, it’s been revealed that the Eels star was offered not only to NRL clubs, but also to Rugby Australia as a possible Wallaby for the 2027 World Cup.

Parramatta Eels star Dylan Brown has been offered to Rugby Australia as a possible Wallaby five-eighth for the 2027 World Cup in his latest bombshell contract development.
This masthead can reveal veteran player agent Chris Orr not only emailed 16 NRL clubslast week to offer Brown’s services, but also Rugby Australia.

It is intriguing in that Brown is a Kiwi, who could play for the All Blacks, although it didn’t stop Rugby Australia from chasing another Kiwi NRL star, Storm forward Nelson Asofa Solomona, in 2024.

Brown moved from Auckland to Sydney as a 15-year-old to enter Parramatta’s junior league rep teams.

Rugby Union sources have confirmed the email from Orr arrived on Wednesday.

However one rugby insider said it was met with a lukewarm response: “There is little or no interest from our end.”

The circus around Brown’s future has become a huge frustration for Parramatta fans.

Inexplicably the Eels management allowed Brown two get-out clauses in his NRL contract which permit him to leave at the end of this year or in 2028.

It has become a huge distraction for the club on the eve of the premiership.

Orr’s email to Parramatta’s premiership rivals caused an outrage last week when it was leaked to media organisations within minutes of the agent hitting the send button.

Eels head of football Mark O’Neill insists: “Dylan is happy at the club, he has been here since he was 16 and we have put a lot of time into Dylan during his career and we are confident he is going to stay and have a great season.”

Then why is his manager so proactively and publicly shopping him around – and not just to NRL franchises?

He is 24 and already on almost $1 million a year.

It is hugely concerning that Brown won’t commit long term.

If he loves Parramatta and has confidence in their future, why can’t he say to his manager: “Stop shopping me around – I’m happy here.”

The Eels roster management has been astonishingly poor.

What other professional sporting organisation would allow contract escapes for their two best players.

They face the same situation with Origin and Kangaroos halfback Mitchell Moses at the end of the season in regards to another contract escape clause.

His future in the NRL will be the subject of speculation throughout the season.

There has already been talk of the Sydney Roosters making a multimillion-dollar move.

Whether the roster instability affects new coach Jason Ryles and his hopes of lifting the Eels into finals contention remains to be seen.

Cameron George confirms Warriors have not spoken with Dylan Brown
Was just watching a podcast on youtube with Cam George he advised that no one at the Warriors has spoken to Dylan Brown or his agent about the future. So all this talk about DB is pure rumor & unless we here otherwise looks like we aren't interested, which makes sense as hes not a huge upgrade on TMM or Metcalf at least not for the money being
asked
We must have the same algorithm, good watch for everyone else:
