We’d risk losing Laban, or kayliss if we signed him. At least they can see a road to FG with niukore & capes likely to move on. I like Nikora but edge is one position we’re not short in.
Do we want to win a comp next year or play Russian Roulette in the future? He’d be a massive upgrade on both underwhelming and past their used by dates Niukore and Capewell. Guy hits a hole like no other.

Niukore and Capewells contracts are up very soon. We have the juniors on way less money to replace them and leaving us money to upgrade in much needed other positions.
No need to get Nikora.

It would be like the Warriors to go for another back rower.

We have a terrible history of injuring them, so it would not surprise me to see the club grab another.

It’s not really about that imo. We have 3 back rowers in Laban, kayliss & leka all signed long term. We have EIT, and gannon fighting for a bench spot too. They’re the future of our pack, all signed on cheap (ish) deals. This is how the panthers dynasty was created. Look at how it’s blown up in the bulldogs face l how they’ve tried to buy a premiership, it all starts with pathways. I’m just not overly keen to watch Laban or kayliss leave to club before the age of 22, starved of opportunities by bringing over yet another specialist edge.

We have to spend our cap on positions of need. I’m actually at the point where even if Fifita or Crichton wanted to come I wouldn’t be keen, we have to balance our pathways development & cap to positions we need. We’re currently struggling to develop outside backs and centres for whatever reason, but there’s a conveyor belt of young forwards coming through.

We also can’t develop halves, hence why we’re having a shot at the stumps on a bunch of different young Aussie halves.

They have to stick to a plan & not panic buy someone. It’s about continual success, not a one off premiership.
