We were third to last in offloads this year, I wonder if that was because what you mentioned or whether it was a conscious thing? That could be apart of speeding play up as Webster had stated is his intention for next year?
I always thought that we weren't offloading as we were sticking to Websters structures. Probably Webster did not say no offloads just reinforced his structures which lead to less. I would think we will add more offloads to our game as teams will not expect it. Having players like RTS who will be sniffing around for them will help. Hopefully we do them in a smart way as throwing them around for the sake of it like we use to never won us a GF.

At the culmination of the season the club said it hadn't healed as they had hoped and were going to address it again. I'd imagine this is just that unless someone has a different account.

I was going to post the same thing, after all it was a serious break and there is every chance he would have played with pain this year and now needs therapy again.

Good to have it happen now eh.

These guys seem most likely now I think about it. They’ve got $, they’re a good team & they’ve got players we’d probably trade for. They’ve got some half decent props available off contract next year, BHU, and Jack Williams are seasoned props and tuku hau tapuha & Bradbury are great prospects coming through. I really like Williams personally.

When u look at it they bat pretty deep-

Rudolph
Bhu
Williams
Hazelton
Hunt
Kaufusi
Jesse Colquhoun
Tuku

Then u got finucane and mcinness playing in the middle too.
They could afford to lose someone.

Apparently we were already looking for a middle forward for this year so if we had the money I’d be saying to the sharks we’ll release afb to u 2025 if u release someone to us this year- bhu and kaufusi the obvious targets both Auckland born and coming off contract next year.
That way we get someone for this this season and we still have a year to find someone to replace afb 2025- a years a long time in the nrl- something will come up.

Agree. I think this is where he ends up. He’s got family connections at the tigers, but who’d want to go there. The dogs might get him with the Gus connection & dragons will have the most money & he played there as a junior. All options are viable but sharks have the best shot of winning a title for him, if he’s motivated by that & mutually, they’ve got the best cattle to send our way if it works out like that.

I don’t really rate BHU, he’s too hot and cold for my liking. I’d prefer a hard working, aggressive prop. I like Williams from the sharks, Royce hunt is another that stands out & kaufusi would be awesome. To be fair on paper, they’d get the best prop in the game (bar haas), and we’d get a starter & bench prop of theirs. That’s a good trade for both teams.

AFB irreplaceable with the cattle on offer

We should use this time to modify our systems and game plan, not go for a like for like but recruit 1 or 2 middles that suit our next stage of development as a squad.

Go like for like welcomes disappointment, but as has been webby mantra, select players for skill set and position and plan around that.

2024 / 25 very telling if we a top 5 club or mid table battlers.

Trying to put a positive spin on the AFB departure……the main thing I can think of is that is isn’t really sustainable to be paying $1m+ for a prop. We can only do it this year due to our cut price halfback.
All the teams with consistent success (panthers, rooster, storm) only pay around $750k for thier top prop. All the big money under the cap goes to the spine!!
