So you think the journalist is just making up blatant lies for fun??

Like most things that come out in the media, it comes from player agents, playing a game to make more money.

Absolutely. 'a source close to xx has shared .....'
How many times do you see that in the media?

Even if it was a player agent and it's 100% true, why would they go to the media and share that, but not give any details? That's not helping their client, that's not generating any interest or potential money, so it's kind of a pointless exercise.

We've had the 'homesick card' played so many times against the Warriors that it's such a low risk option for a media.

If we hear it from the player, his agent, the team, or even a rumour I'd be interested, but this secret 'lets go to the media with literally no Intel' kinda thing just seems pointless

I hope your right mate!
I’m just more sceptical. AFB came out of the blue and we have been burnt so many times by this that I always assume where there is smoke there is fire.

As for the agents, yeah not sure what the agenda would be in this case. I do know they plant certain things in the media to gauge the response and get other clubs/agents to get offers ready.

Luke Hanson is coming to play U21's in 2024 to provide direction from the halves to the SG Ball crew from this year who'll progress up to Jersey Flegg. He won't be knocking on the door of first grade as he's yet to debut in NSW Cup
He must be doing pre season with the FG team.

I saw a youngster arriving at Auckland Airport with a Panthers back pack being picked up in the Warriors van.
Not a stalker...

It's too precise? They've shared nothing lol.

They have told us nothing other than 2 players are considering asking for a release.

Where would that information have come from...actually? Nothing's previously been reported, no rumours or anything....so either two seperate players have gone to a media source in Stuff (or they've shared with mates who have gone to the source) to share that theyre thinking about leaving...and on both occasions the media have been honourable and chosen not to share thaf information with the public.

No way in hell. If someone told Stuff that Barney or Metcalf were thinking about leaving they would print that and look at all the clicks roll in for them. I call BS
I don't have an opinion on whether this is likely to be true or not (personally I will just ignore it unless more info with more specific details come out) but I think it's likely the journalist heard something from a source - whether that source is very credible and their info is accurate is another matter.

As to where the info could have come from I don't think it's as proposterous as you make it sound. To give a random made-up example, what if AFB's wife is the one who leaked the AFB wanting out story to media and she also told them her husband said there's another couple of Aussie boys wanting out but she doesn't want to name names as that's their business.

But yeah, anyway... I do agree that we should be pretty sceptical about this unless something more concrete comes out.

With several players looking at leaving, is this a sign Websters pushing them to hard? Doing a Payten? Are we looking at a second year drop off?

Or is this just what the good teams go through?
No not Webby!!!

We are currently a victim of our own success. Agents think their player who done well this year should get more money. Us being in NZ makes it easier for them to break their contracts.

Just the fact we’re based in Auckland. I wouldn’t want to live there or anywhere in NZ after being in Aus the last 5 years 😂
I've been in Oz for 17 years. Every single kiwi mate i had here has moved home. I'm only here for the money. Or else I'd come home too.(Not Auckland lol)The same reason these players move to NZ. Money. Missing family seems to be the main concern when overseas players go to NZ. Especially, When they start families.

Wow- when I saw his photo pop up I thought it was gonna say he was retiring 😩
Well the club and Tohu himself would know where he's at physically- and if both parties are happy to extend- get it done (at a discounted rate of course) Actually could be a chance to rebalance a bit- IE instead of giving him $950,000 next year and say $600,000 in 2025, he might agree to $800,000 next year and $750,000 in 2025 just freeing up another $150,000 for next year to lure in that mystical middle forward we need.

Love this!

Would be great to also not lose a shit tonne of experience - AFB, Tohu and SJ - all at the same time, end of 2024. If Tohu stays it spreads that load a little and gives those rookies an extra year with or so with Tohu.

Get it done team!
