Meh lets just release SJ, RTS, AFB, Tofu. Who cares which one it is or isnt. SJ and Tofu are relics of the old Warriors. Its why we cant move on. RTS is a one man band, and AFB is gone anyway..

The Knights were 14th after Round 16 of last year but went on a run to finish 5th after an away game against the Bulldogs in Round 18.

We are 14th after Round 16 and we play away against the Bulldogs in Round 18.. It's a sign!

(It's not, We are shit)

So we're gonna host the Raiders for R1 playoffs, and beat them in golden point, then go to the Dolphins and get smashed after a week's Redcliffe news headline of "Will the Hammer's hammy recover. HOPE" 🤣

I couldn’t bring myself to watch the game sorry. So my comment may be off, and I am open to abuse 🫣🤣. So was just wandering from AWs comments. Did we miss some mongrel up front? Would a couple of young aggressive kids like Sifakula, Laban and Zyon Maiu’u have helped? Sounded like the Titans had no dramas or concerns running at us all day. I knew we would struggle with this game not due to the forwards but rather because the Titans are perhaps the fastest team in the comp. Khan, Kini, Jojo Fifita, Campbell and Brimson are all rapid either over 40m or the full 100m. They can strike from anywhere and throw Kosi on the wing with an injured SJ, we were always going to have to be lucky. I say Tuaupiki next time on the wing instead of Kosi.

I think webby recognized the difference in speed so we tried to play through them (I've seen a lot of posts about sj hitting the lead runner but it wasnt just him- tmm, harris, walker, egan- they all just hit the lead runner over and over so it was clearly the plan) problem is- to play through the middle u need to be aggressive and we just didnt show up.
Its hard to put into words- it was just piss weak.
I did think Ale and Laban added a bit of energy- the ship had well and truly sailed by then though.

In a nutshell. We are the nice guys of the comp unless Barnett is playing.

the 8th stage of grief: are the Titans the real deal? the way they played on the weekend, would they be able to go toe to toe with anyone in the NRL? or were we just shockingly bad

I wasn't going to post in this thread tonight as I am managing my emotions which are raw and damaged from the annihilation on the weekend.

It is not a case of the Titans being good. They were even below average for the first twenty minutes when we held them scoreless and they screwed up time and time again in our red zone. The titans are an average NRL team and have had some unlucky results this year or would be higher in the ladder. But they are not that great and deserve to be about 12th to 14th.

The reason in my mind why we lost was
a) Some dumb positional decisions like Walker at edge and Chanel at lock. I blame that at 50% of the reason we lost.
b) We were favourites for the game and the warriors seem to never win games they are supposed to win but crazily play very well as underdogs. The three matches in a row we won were all as underdogs. I suspect the players get too wound up by the coaching staff telling them they must win and then probably CG gets involved with a speech telling them winning is a non negotiable, and the maybe Mohawk shows up at training and he says anything less than winning it unacceptable, . And then something, I don't know what goes through the Warriors heads and then next thing you know they are playing tight, not playing as a team, trying to do it all themselves. IE not in the optimum head space which is being amped for the game but no so amped you have too much adrenaline and can't move or think quickly and I think we get too amped.
I suspect a big reason for the loss is the coaching staff. They have failed to notice we only win games as underdogs and are terrible front runners and have not addressed the fundamental culture at the club which creates this mentality. I also think the coaching staff and CG in particular from watching footage of team speeches do give a lot of speeches which make the players just gulp and shrug their shoulders. Like losing is not an option. We must win this game you are better than the Titans so I expect you to win comfortably instead of respecting the opposition whoever they are whereever they are ranked on the table and respecting them.
The Blackcaps before this recent T20 debacle. used to be ruthless mother fuckers at smashing minnows. England were always losing to Ireland while Jamie How or someone for us would score like 180 and we would post 400. And after the game the Kiwis said we knew they were capable of an upset and have good players so we wanted to show them respect by playing our very best and posting a big total for them to chase.
When do you hear the Warriors talking like that?
This has been going for years. We bottle it against bad teams and play like men possessed against a top team and lose closely and everyone says if we play like that next week against Manly we will clobber them. But we don't play like that next against the mid table team.
We lost against the Titans because of our club culture that we usually, with many exceptions, only win we are the underdogs and bottle it when we are favourites.

Interesting question.
I went to the titans round 1 game and was down on the field during the warmup and I couldn’t get over the size of them- they looked like a team of body builders- sure enough 10 minutes in they were all cooked and ended up getting smashed by the dragons.
As the year has gone on though and they got their fitness right they’ve started to look pretty dangerous but they also have periods in games where they’re awful- that’s the first time they’ve done it for 80 minutes (or close too).
There’s a lot of talent in that squad and speed to burn- it was a pretty impressive performance especially considering all the players they had out.
Driving to work this morning they had someone from the titans on the radio and they were saying how well foran has been playing and whoever it was they were saying how a lot of people thought he should have retired last year but all they needed from him was to guide them round the park and give early ball to the outside backs because they have so much speed and x factor across the park.
I actually thought it was a good game between them and the tigers last week and they both came out this week with a bunch of young uns and blew a couple of aging sides off the field.
I don’t think they can crack it this year- left their run too late and they’re too inconsistent but they do look good for the future (although I’ve been saying that for a few years ).
In saying all that…. We were shockingly bad.
Shockingly.

Here's the explanation how the bunker justifies sending RTS to the sin bin..

No mention of the high shot on Montoya attempting to score a try..

I don't mind this direction but has anyone heard that they are trying to eliminate this type of tackle? It's the first I know about it. Are the clubs and players aware? If so, this would be a very dumb play by RTS and further evidence of him being off the pace and struggling to adapt

He did it at the trials and it was fine, a stunning tackle. Badger is just another POS bunker
