Barnett and TMM salary (including his current) would make Boyd a $1m player.

Get it done!

Marata, possibly Capewell and RTS could go towards upgrading the young guns.

With Boyd, Metcalf and this forward pack were in a real window for the next few years.
No club is going to make Tannah Boyd a $1m offer?!

But I believe Boyd will be very happy to stay at the Warriors for something like $650k if further along the season the Warriors believe he's worth it..

I'm very happy to eat a bit of humble pie over Boyd. I think the next step for both club and player is very important now. Tanah has somewhere that works for him, and most halves live or die by the quality of player and system around them. He needs to weigh up sustained success and money vs a quick payday that has him struggling in a team that doesn't compliment his strengths and vulnerabilities.

The Warriors on the other hand, need to acknowledge that as good as he has been, we seem to have a system where players can slot in and do their role. Like the Storm of old a player like Ben Roberts or Blake Green can provide what the team needs from that cog in the wheel. Even Cronk was a cog. My thought is that a price like 700k a season may work for both going forward.

I'm expecting us to resign Boyd at 7, move (a hopefully not too disgruntled) Metcalf to 6, and let go of Healy for CHT to take over that role and back up a half.

His potential is higher than Metcalf in my humble opinion.

He’s the missing link - a decent number 7 that makes the team around him better.
I agree but, like you say that is also inherent to his position. Metcalf also made the team around him better last season at 7 but again, I also agree that Boyd is better suited to 7 than Metcalf. However, Luke made many huge plays to save us or win us plenty of games last season hence his Dally M points.

Bottom line, Webster and co have done exceptionally well with these two and on this form we'll have an amazing halves pairing with a firing team around them..

Boyd isnt some random nobody suddenly turned good, he was one of QLDs and AUS U16/U18s and Australian Schoolboys champ. Fell apart when he shifted from Broncos dev to GC Titans
Tanah Boyd struck the halfback lottery at school to be fair, playing behind Mo Fotuaika, Payne Haas and David Fifita. Seems to excel behind dominant packs like that/ours.

Surely Metcalf plays 6 when he comes back in and Tanah stays at 7. Would not even mind Tanah playing 6 with what he showed of his running game at the weekend.

I like the idea of two ball playing half's and those two should both be starting ahead of CHT when everyone is fit.

The big question is will Metcalf be ok with playing 6 and letting Boyd keep the reigns especially when he initially comes back from injury. Not sure how that dynamic will play out.

As others have said other clubs will be coming for Tanah 100% if he keeps up this level.

We have way too many good half options with Hansen, Jett, Inch, CHT etc. We can't keep all of them.

People keep talking about how Metcalf will feel? Does it matter? Boyd has literally been one of, if not the best player in the whole comp whilst we are 3-0 and averaging 40 points a game. It should not even be a discussion. He's there and Metcalf can fit around him and we will be better for it as he's also class. We are stacked, love CHT too.....it's tough but Boyd has earned the right and unless his form drops off a cliff, then he's the guy.

Sure you are right mate
Whatever the coach thinks is best for the team
I would actually prefer Metcalf at 7
Just a bit more protection than at 6 in defence
Boyd is built a lot more solid
These days 7 and 6 are interchange usually swapping sides of the ruck as required
Pretty sure that with the way the season is currently unfolding all parties will agree

Agreed it's Webby's call but yes play them both of course.....

Right at this moment? No certainly not. Boyd has been sensational. We still have at least 3 rounds before Metcalf is even an option.....a lot can change in 3 rounds that's for sure.
That's all I am trying to say. Everyone needs to chill and stop thinking we have unlocked Joey Johns and sign him up long term.
