I’ll never forget this. Here we are, a battered beaten club. Now I know Smith Bellamy and Hoffman were coming from a space of good intentions - but this is the moment during the covid years that our soul was stripped from us. 2 years later we go to AAMI park for Anzac Day with our team in bits after being away from home for 2 years and we get battered 70-10. Then… Coates last year. Another moment that has left permanent mental scars.

The Melbourne Storm are a good team and a proud club led by good people. But they are also ruthless grubs who love to shovel salt into gaping wounds. The wound they opened up in 2020 has never closed for me - and won’t until we do to them what they have done to us.

Sometimes you go on a long losing streak and each game, improvements are made which means you get closer and closer to a win. Robbie Deans taught me this. It’s about continuing to work towards improving which eventually will get you that win.

I think today might be the day we exorcise at least one of those demons. It is time the streak is put to bed. It’s about time we as Warriors take back our mana. Our pride. Our soul.

We take back what’s rightfully ours. What Cameron smith, Craig Bellamy and co stole from us during Covid.

This is our moment of redemption.
I hope our team runs out today with belief, dignity and courage and plays as a unified team to batter, rattle and unhinge this Storm team. We defend our line like we are defending our honour.

It’s time to finish this once and for all.
The grave has been dug. Time to bury the storm and their curse over us.

Don't worry, it's The Undertaker, dark and broody is his thing (I appreciate the burial puns, intended or otherwise 😜).

I'm torn about watching live, cos the last three wins I've had something on which has delayed my viewing, somewhat of a hoodoo for myself now 😅

Having said that I've also got a couple of multis including Warriors 12- and 13+ wins so I've doomed them anyway 😅

Boys need to play without fear. The past is the past. Many in this team weren't even a part of the horror games in the past (ie 2020, 2022). So let's forget the pre-Webby era. In the Webby era, we've been very competitive with Melbourne and have been in a position to beat them all three times. In Melbourne, we lost by 8 in 2023 and only 4 in 2024. We are getting closer every time.

Of course no one is expecting us to win. In fact, everyone is expecting us to get towelled up. But the reality is that we have the gameplan to challenge Melbourne. Manly, as they always do, thought they could just go around Melbourne. Dumbest gameplan ever against these pros- you let them control the ruck and you will have 50 put on you as they almost did and we know only too well. Our gameplan from last year essentially worked: bully them up front and take time away from their spine. Take their big wingers (ie Coates) out of the game by peppering them all day with high kicks into the corners. Strangle them slowly and force them into dumb decisions. In last year's game, Grant was doing all sorts of dumb shit that almost gave us the win (ie throwing the ball intentionally at Ford on the ground and giving us a penalty to kick us 8 pts clear with 5 mins to go).

Minus the last 3 mins, we had these mofos last year with the gameplan we still use today. If we do that for 80 minutes this time, we have every chance of winning this game, regardless of what the bookies say. Move over Roosters- your victories over Penrith and Brisbane were nothing because this will be the upset of the year

Again line speed will be everything today & always

This is where mobility of the pack is in many respects more important than size. Manly and Sharks have huge middles who constantly get left on the ground by the smaller, but faster mobile packs like us and the dogs. Size is an impediment sometimes to having fitter forwards that can maintain crazy line speed for 80 minutes.
