Sports Rugby

Just watched the highlights of the match. Knowing the scoreline before watching, I couldn't believe only 2 tries were scored.
Why is Rugby so shit?

(I guess I can believe it..)
You were lucky, watching the whole thing was painful, our try was good though.

Different game where modern defence is to have the line set and just rush the side with the ball. Cause a knock on or turnover or penalty. It's just pressure. Not very fun at times but teams still can throw it around and if I'm honest I'll take a boring win.

What stood out was how superior union kickers are to leaguies, with a few exceptions like Cleary

It will be interesting to see how Joseph Sua'ali'i goes for the Wallabies. He's bee selected and thrown in quickly.

He's played a lot of union but that was a few years ago.

It’s absolutely garbage. About 25 minutes of a game is actually worth watching, the rest is scrums, mauls, forwards going nowhere, box kicks and penalty goal attempts.
We used to run it at all costs and could beat virtually anybody that way. That has become an outdated and easy to defend method. We then started losing games but made it look pretty. And making losing look good is not as much fun as winning. The spectacle of rugby is quite boring at times.

England are even worse. They play a mindless game of kicking at every opportunity, a bit like a shit game from the 1980’s. The six nations tournament is so dull watching England and others that it actually makes the winter seem longer than it is.

The exception are Ireland who have more of a league style instilled by Farrell, stand up in the tackle and offload the ball to a support player.

Do you miss the winter rugby league, when men were men, not like these soft lads nowadays laying about sunbathing and getting their nails and makeup done, in my day we played a game of league on a winter Saturday then went home to sunbathe in't frost. And if we didn't bring home a win bonus, the wife would beat us t' death wi' our own cloth caps.

I’ve been to games in days gone by when the pitch had been protected by straw to try and prevent freezing and supporters would help to remove it just before the match. Bastard freezing on the terraces, I’d have hated playing in it. A stray clip around the ear hole playing school rugby made you feel like your ear was made of glass.
Iirc Australia beat us in the final match of the 1973 ashes series over here when the ground was almost frozen during the Friday night.

I play many a game in HB where the ground was so frozen after a frost there was no point in having sprigs was the equivalent of running on concrete, when you did get tackled the grass was sharp.
Remember a few games if there was rain the night before the puddles frosted over, after getting tackled onto the ice you then had the shards like glass before getting a facial and pretty much water boarded in the puddle lol

Haven’t watched a huge amount of rugby this year but a great game between All Blacks and France this. On the end of a loss but a great game to watch in terms of how rugby can be ruined by dumb rules. Interesting that Caleb Clark trained with the rabbits last pre season and he’s playing better than I’ve seen him play

What is the ABs record playing in non-Black jerseys? Feels like we've had a few significant losses in the white/grey ever since that infamous quarterfinal 😅

Reading what the press said about the AB's loss this morning.

"France weather All Blacks storm" Charles Richardson Telegraph UK
"Stage set for 2025 blockbuster" Christy Doran The Roar
"France extend unbeaten run over All Blacks" Julien Pretot Reuters
"NZ Cracked" Colin Newboult Planet Rugby
"Famous One Point Win" Ned Lester Rugbypass

"Baffling decisions hurt All Blacks" Liam Napier NZ Herald

I guess my share portfolio will drop another couple of points on Monday

No idea , but as we wear them when we play Scotland , the record would be good. We fall over when we play France .
