NRL Referees

May be unwise of me to potentially be adding fuel to the conspiracy fire, but fuck it lol

There have 102 Sin Bins this season so far.

2 have been called in our favour, one being a professional foul by Yeo on Roache, the other being on Townsend.

5 have been called against us.

Dylan Walker against the Dolphins, was graded by the MRC as a Grade 1 Careless High Tackle

Roger Tuivasa-Sheck against the Titans, was graded by the MRC as a Grade 1 Dangerous Throw

Dallin Watene-Zelezniak against the Storm, was graded by the MRC as a Grade 2 Careless High Tackle

Marcelo Montoya against the Storm, professional foul.

Chanel Harris-Tavita against the Cowboys, what’s the charge? Eating a meal? A succulent Chinese meal?

On 4* occasions an opposition player has been handed a Grade 2 Charge or higher. (*Not including Hughes ref push)

• Stephen Crichton, charged with Grade 2 Careless High Tackle by MRC. Penalty, No Bin

• Jaeman Salmon, charged with Grade 2 Dangerous Contact by MRC. No penalty, No Bin

• Josh Aloiai, charged with Grade 2 Dangerous Contact by MRC. Penalty, No Bin

• Latrell Mitchell, charged with Grade 2 Dangerous Contact. No penalty, No Bin

Hard to judge without seeing what other teams look like (no chance I’m doing that), but even without that, not great..

If I’m feeling really cute I might go through and see what Grade 1s opposition played got handed, but weren’t penalised tomorrow, we’ll see

102 bins and only 5 against us!? 🤔
Doesn’t sound right

Here, But the Fox Stats site has us down for 5 with 110 total Sin Bins over the season.

Semi related but with 12 MRC Charges we are the second least charged team behind the Cowboys with 11, according the the NRL.com Judiciary page.

We are also 10th in most penalties conceded, and 3rd in most penalties awarded in our favour. (Though that will change with the Bye)

Great analysis and post.

Really highlights in solid data what we’re up against.

This is really good stuff. I encourage you to spread this far and wide on Facebook and social media.

Clear bias.

Our only hope to be a successful club long term is to highlight and expose what we’re up against to force changes.

More than just a bias - this is the health and safety of our players who are fined and miss games more and aren’t protected by the officials like other clubs.

Stats are interesting in the sense that you can get a number of (correct) conflicting interpretations.
For example we are 5.9% of the comp but Recieved 4.5% of sin bins…
Context is unfortunately a bit of an intangible subjective

Disagree, that stat just shows we are a disciplined team as you would expect being one of the most experienced teams in the comp age wise.

It’s how it’s handled when they get an opportunity which is the issue.

this is all great stuff - particularly because annessley came out to say 'we might get one of two wrong but statistically we're pretty good.' The difference between for and against for the warriors is pretty stark

Was interesting watching nrl 360 how they’ve shifted the narrative to are sin bins given too easily? Sort of gave the impression that they were pushing towards they got this one right?

lol - whatever way you look at it we got fucked by the incident - lost a starter, didn't get a replacement - if someone comes off for the whole match via injury you really should have someone else come in on the bench - then on the other side of it that Crighton got a grade 2 charge afterwards sort of showed the bs of dealing with it on ground

ha, inadvertently opened up another question there... no way am I suggesting we go the union route of having another half a team of replacements ready on the sideline, but I do think we've got to decide if the modern game is played 13 on 13 or 17 on 17 ... my personal opinion is that the equal numbers between opposing teams should be maintained throughout a match as far as possible... it is as much a disadvantage if you lose a couple of players in your 17 to accidents as it is through 'foul-play'

Funny thing is you could hear Barnett asking the ref all these sorts of questions like what if we don’t get him back? Was just roadblocked by the ref in any instance. Sort of can’t believe just how obvious this was, that no one is talking about just how obvious the wrong call was last time we played bulldogs also? Both to me seem deliberate no calls given how obvious the outcome should have been in both situations, also being that this was the only one of the previous weekend they got wrong? Now we’re having the rhetoric pushed that they get most right

Wow that’s some great research- pretty damning too.
Hope this gets spread around.

Noitall

I couldn't agree with you more

Also throw in the fact that after the held call it was ok for the doggies to drive our ball carrier back 15 or so metres on numerous occasions but not ok for us to gang drive a doggie over the sideline
