Is this now the rule for both attacking & defending teams? If it is, I personally think the defending team, at least, should have the ability to deliberately knock it out out bounds like they can with grubbers
A clarification of the rule would actually be great. I don’t have that clear of an understanding of it. My judgement is based on other rulings we’ve seen so far this season.

I've seen a few people claiming he played averagely last night.

Did these people notice how many hit ups our backs were taking?

But yeah, he deserves his flowers for that clutch moment.
Have to admit his distribution was not great though - whether that was on him, the pressure from the short ten, or bad timing on his outsides I don't know - it wasn't working and we needed a better second option, as i don't think him running it back into the ruck area was a circuit breaker

It will be interesting how we use him in the back end of the season.

The next 10 rounds we have 3 byes, and then have a 9 game stretch to finish the season.

Leka, and others are looking tired atm, so I think there needs to be some kind of plan where in that last month of footy before finals we give a bunch or our players the opportunity to freshen up.
It's as simple as rotating in purpose. Not only because of missed tackles or injury or suspension.

When Ford broke through and went close but couldn't link up to his support, I loved seeing Chitty hit the next hit up. If he was 38kg heavier he would have busted through. But he wouldn't have made it to the ball anyway.

The moral of my story is "good boy Chitty"

the spine all need to to look at their support play, think it was 4 clear line breaks and not a one of them had a man to pass to. Ford may have run away from his support.

Egan is brilliant at what he does but he sort of ambles from ruck to ruck, our fullbacks have never been prominent in support - might be a game plan positioning thing, so really on the halves, metcalf is great at that

Much more atmosphere at last night's game than two years ago vs the knights at the caketin. People had been avidly following the wahs and given this was the only game we are getting all season, the crowd were keen to make the most of it.
On the train to Wellington from the Hutt a guy in a dolphins jumper got on at NaeNae and took massive grief from the passengers.
The Anzac ceremony was amazing to be at live. Someone 50 metres away from me ruined it by yelling out "Up the Anzacs" trying to be clever half way through the last post. The crowd got pissed off with him and that is why you heard booing during the ceremony.
Other observations
1) Thomas Fleger was really throwing his weight around and skittling us in the first twenty minutes. Barnett coming on and him going off turned the tide in our favour.
2) I would prefer we had silence at half time rather than nightclub music blaring at full volume. All of us are there with friends and whanau and they are stopping us from talking to each other easily.
3) Finally on the ten metres policing. He wasn't cheating or biased. He was just quite bad at it. Sometimes he made us stand back 12 metres, other times the Dolphins only 8 metres but it was all random and plenty of other times he got it right at 10 metres exactly. But he was pretty bad at the ten meter line application.
4) Two biggest errors that pissed off the crowd were a) after the eirn clark epic line break we knocked in on next tackle. b) the Dallin play of the ball error.
5) Singing the team song at the end was awesome.
6) The fans 15 metres in front of me were just there to party and broke out dance moves every try.
7) The fans for stupid reasons tried to wave their hands and fingers at tannah on his kicks at goal instead of doing this to Isaako.
8) tannah is an epic goal kicker. Doesn't get phased whether he makes them or not.
9) Based on body language this is now Tannah's team. They all defferred to him on the field and he is our general and organiser. He called all the shots and the team depended on him to give us direction and shape.
10 Both Khan Periera tries took some scoring and he did well.

Finally after an out of control train ride into the stadium the ride home was tame as all the Wellingtonians were tired from their night out and were ready for bed as our train bore through the stations of lower hutt and into upper hutt. Got home at 11.15pm.

So metcalf to fullback?

I actually thought it was a really good win and we played pretty well....especially to come back from 16 - 6.

This game was a grind and credit to the Dolphins, they were up for it. Which was surprising given their a stellar attacking team but grinding isnt really instilled in their DNA. But i thought defensively their pack matched us in physicality.....most teams cant maintain that intensity when they play us but the Dolphins did for large parts of that game. Just their discipline and errors probably letting them down.

Yeah we were clunky in areas and plenty of work ons needed, but a lot of that due to the pressure the opposition were applying. Amuses me in pre match threads how many think we're going to dominate with that Storm like performance every week, like the opposition arent going to have a say in things.....and then are ready to shit the bed when not everything goes to plan...."oh but team B beat team C and we beat team C and team D are lower in the ladder so their no chance" bollocks....if your slightly off your game and the other is slightly on anyone can beat anyone.

This was a good grinding win, bank it, keep working hard, onto the next.

I didn't want to mention and trigger another halves debate but the same thought was going through my head, "you know who would be there!".

To be fair though Chanel is also usually very good in his support play but wasn't to be seen. Was it more because of who made the break caught them off gourd?

Your last sentence sums it up perfectly.
However no man runs alone except maybe from deep in your own half.
I think they got over structured and were setting for the next play each time.

Allways love to hear prespectives from people at the game. On number 7... Do you mean the mana wave?

And its probably a direct trade off. Doing one well but not the other.

I thought Ali was maybe heading over to AKP's side when he went on his run, looking for the speed?

I assume he means a version of the spirit fingers, as if you are casting a hex on the recipient hah (or if you are Razor Ramon / Scott Hall doing the mocking Oooooh I'm sooooo scareeeed gesture 😅)

So yeah more an action to put the mockers on a kicker rather than support them I suppose 😅

Its a good luck thing, kind of like magic to the kicker. Maybe not as common in NZ

But playing league growing in Australia up we used to do it watching our teams next age up when the kicker was up

I agree. We do the mana wave all the time at the auckland games. But from the way @Wrighty and @Evil_Mush describes it, this might be different? 🤷‍♂️

I'll be honest. This welly crowd sounded pretty rowdy.

For context, the guys I have sat next to for the last four years sneak their own booze in, vape in the stands and have all done time at Mount Eden. Weirdly enough, the nicest blokes you'll meet at the game.

The atmosphere at the game was electric, crowd was incredible to be part of i thought.
Watched the foxtel coverage and you could barely notice/hear the crowd. Watched the highlights on YouTube and you definitely could hear the crowd with the Sky coverage.
