They've been selected in the same spots as last game. A late change is not unexpected.

Perhaps against a bigger pack, specialist coverage for Egan is necessary?

Our depth allows a 'Horses for courses' bench approach
Could just be that, Tom Ale is middle cover for Marata at 2nd row, Jazz isn't the best hooker cover so we might need Lussick so CHT and Laban not needed. I'd prefer they were though, can’t wait to see Laban debut. A new spine of charnze, Chanel and Te Maire for the first time might be a bit clunky against the bunnies though, maybe be we better stick with Lussick off the bench for continuity. But I love CHT, my head says one thing and my heart wants to see Chanel smile again.

I have put on my big girl socks and shoes and had a bit of a think.
A team the fans would pick would be Laban to debut at 2nd row and Marata back to the bench and CHT to 14.

The team the coaching staff has picked tonight includes no rookies, is highly experienced, and even though we on this forum don't consider Ale and Bunty to be big boppers they are the biggest boppers we have so we have gone with our "big boppers" to match Souths massive pack.

Back to my cricket fan days whenever the blackcaps picked a "fans" team we got thrashed. And whenever the selectors picked a boring and frustratingly conservative side we punched above our weight and either did a boilover or nearly did one.

I am behind this 1 to 17 as named even if no changes on game day.
TMM is a fantastic defender. Way better than Metcalf and he is a better passer.
Ale deserves some chances to either sink or swim.
I would though venture a big part of the game will be how well Ale and Bunty go off the bench.
Jazz has been pretty reliable lately too.

Can't shake the awful feeling that I have for this one, fuckin Souths man, saying they've got the wood over us is an understatement. Come on boys.
I get it and rightfully so, they’re a pain in the azz…..willl make a win even more sweeter.

We pushed Melbourne (ya know, the other team that has the wood over us) and if it wasn’t for that freakishly acrobatic try by Coates, not to mention Metcalf missed 2 conversions but kinda made up for it by with 3/3 penalty goals we would’ve won…..on their turf. Down 6-18 at halftime.

We would’ve learnt a lot from that game and what we’re capable of.

Keep the Faith bruv, we’ve got this….. I think 🤔

Wrighty... I can't let that that go without wanting to know more. I don't judge anyone as you know, but you're not in a schoolgirl uniform right now ...are you?
LOL
I lived in Canada for many years and in the long winters back east they come up with various hard case sayings while they are snowed into one pub for 8 months with the same people.
"Put on your big girl panties and get on with it" is a Canadian expression that means harden up. And the panties referred to will be sensible grandma knickers rather than something lacey and exotic. The expression means get sensible and grow up. I changed the expression to big girl socks and shoes for the New Zealand audience.
Happy with the Canucks lesson 101?

Thanks mate, snowed into a pub for 8 months? Now I want to move there.
A must do thing on your bucket list should be to go to a Canadian pub when their local team is playing an important playoff match.
Some dude we will call Kevin went to the wash room and we scored a goal. Then we started losing and he happened to go the wash room again and we scored again. Next thing you know he was strong armed into the washroom for the remainder of the match and the pub owner kept sending him in free drinks and food to keep him happy. Every now and then he tried to escape and the waitresses who were very superstitious would use their charm to usher him back to the washroom and telling him he had to stay there.
It was hilarious to watch and they all stood up and bellowed the Canadian national anthem before the match.
On your bucket list I recommend Worried2Death I reckon.

If I time it right I'll get to the pub just as the blizzard of the century starts.

The only thing I was worried about was wet weather to even the teams up. A nervous look at the forecast - thunderstorms

I hope Metcalf can't get back in the team. No shade on him, just hoping that TMMs distribution unlocks those outside him and creates a team where we have fluency on both edges. I thought he was excellent before his injury last year. And he was fantastic for Brisbane the year before that.

Edit - just read Metcalf's recovery prognosis. That sucks, poor bloke.

I wouldn’t look too much into the weather until a day or two out. Thunderstorms and rain were forecasted for Sunday’s match and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky.
