Would like to see CHT do more of the long kicking. I think they should swing back to the left hand side and get Leka 1 on 1 with Gutho.

Very scrappy first half, hopefully we can limit the errors, man we are so missing Boyd with his long boot.

feels like the parra game. We are a bit slow out of the blocks and are in 2nd gear atm. If we pick up the intensity in the 2nd half, we're stick on track for 13+.

I never complain about the refs but inside our 40 the drags are only back 6 metres most of the time

Yeah he has the quick little man acceleration off the mark which is great over the shorter distance.....long distance top end speed isnt great tho

There are a couple of teams that really go overboard on trying to strip the ball every tackle. They really get their arms all tangled up and pull at the ball while other players work the body. Gutho was doing it. Herbie was doing it! Feels and looks cheaty!

TMM is exactly what you want as a backup halfback

But we are kidding ourselves if we think we can go deep with him at 7.

Kicking game just not up to par, we knew that already.

I love TMM and advocated for him to get his chance.

But unfortunately we know his downside is his field kicking. Even in the string of wins we had with him in 2024, that was the glaring issue.

I think it's pretty clear now that if Metcalf gets humming in cup and is showing a good set of shoulders, then he will likely have to come in for his boot if we want to go deep.

Teams playing well all in all with the disruptions, the weather, and the inconsistent officiating you typically get with Gee (Laban on a great charging run gets it clearly ripped out....no call from Bunker either).

CHT is having an off night (he is allowed). We just need to hold the ball and be patient.

We need to attack Setu Tu's side. Kicks in behind him for AKP or cut out balls. Cos Akp only needs a little bit of room to scorch Tu.

Have a look at kicking %s between our halves for whichever players get selected. When Metcalf or Boyd plays, they take majority of the kicks. When neither then CHT. Whenever TMM plays, he always gets the far lesser opportunities at kicks. Its not a tactic. Its because he is woeful as a kicker, and there have been many examples of his 'kicking ability' throughout the years to indicate that it will never change. Remember this is a player who used to practice kicking when Nathan Cleary was coming up at Panthers. Unfortunately it is what it is. His best position is as a utility as cover. Refer to TMM's interview from last game, it was not by accident that he let CHT do most of the kicking last game. Unfortunately you cannot have a NRL level half who cannot kick as it just puts too much pressure on the actual kicker. Ideally we have both halves as options if we have any aspirations past regular season this year.
