Not Wahs related, but really happy that Volkman is running into a good run of form. After all the shit the dragons put him through, he really deserves it. Played really well in a badly beaten side. Don't know his situation, but hope he gets a permanent contract somewhere. Many clubs (ie Dragons) could do worse than him as a running 7.

A few thoughts on the good win last night.

We are now amongst the most professional and team orientated teams in the comp. The fact that we put the Eels to the sword in the last 10 minutes shows this, plus how fit and ruthless we are. I liked that we took those two penalty goals, it kept our foot on their throat and a suitable gap on the scoreboard.

I like how our youngsters are contributing to the win in such a positive way. I thought Demi, Healy and EIT were all excellent. Once Tanwah and Leka develop the telepathic connection that we are seeing glimpses of I expect them both to score a lot more tries.

Supreme credit to Webster for sticking with a winning team. I hope he sticks with that for next week and that to me means CNK, big Marata, Metcalf and TSS are not in the 17. However I think Barney back to the bench and Ali back in to right centre would be my choice.

Credit to JFH for his leadership. His team-first demand is being responded to and our team work is excellent.

Tanwah is keeping the whole team on the game plan for most the game, even when we are scored against. He and CHT are a beaufitully complimentary pair.

Lastly, as much as I love the warhorse who is CNK, TT is simply too dangerous to leave out and makes our new backline (with Ali included) lethal on attack. We seem to be defending well as a team too, so some credit must go to him for organising us in this regard.

These teams that are perennial strugglers at the lower end of the table are better advised to take a page out of Webby's book when he first got here.....take the officiating right off the table as a reason u lose games.

Focusing on the bad calls (which there are in every game) absolves your players from taking responsibility for the parts that are under their control and inevitably the reason why u win or lose a game.

A completion rate of 70% when your opposition is running at 86% means your already pushing shit up hill......Ryles would be better addressing the momentum killer errors his team was making as opposed to anything else.

Love that Webby has squashed any ref/victim mentality from our culture and forced our guys to own the tangibles they can control, and is a big factor i think, in why we're now such a consistently high completion/possession rate team with great discipline.

I think this was a reference to the media last year and the 50/50 (altho most australian media was right on the ofc it was always a knock on train) of demi knocking it on for the disallowed match winner

yeah, 100 % agree - It was bizarre some of those calls - of course I'm watching the impact to our side more, so when the first set extending call happened on the 5th I just felt aggrieved, then on the 3rd or 4th time it happened it became a dull ache - pinged during the peak momentum of a well made tackle was an injustice i became used to

Some referee do mot have the intuition or feel for the game. Some of the 6 again for both sides were not justified. It is spoiling the game. Yes some were clear penalties, but not to the extent they were given.

Thankfully it never weighted the possession to one team which caused the scoreline to blow out

First three games of this season they threw Leka a lot of early ball.

That is not the problem.

The problem is not good at running lines compared to Capewell. Leka stands flat footed instead of hitting the passing lanes.

All of our young back rowers have this issue across the club apart from two young players - Morgan Gannon, and Kaylis Fatialofa.

Leka can do it, seen him hit some nice gaps, so that tells me that apart from a lack of experience there is a familiarity of combinations issues and timing.

It will come. Look at Jackson Ford, most unlikely try scoring prop in the NRL. Took a few years but has learned how to hit holes, BOOM a top try scoring Prop in the game.

Early ball to Leka is fine, provided he is timing his runs onto it.

he needs to get better at running lines for sure, one thing is players seem pretty switched on when opposing him, he’s always crowded.

He’s one of the best tackle breakers I’ve seen probably, a lot more early ball in space is what I want to see.
I can only think of a couple times that’s happened, his debut game and the tigers game last year and look at the outcomes.

A few years ago there was an announcement on the correct pronunciation of Paulo. Same with CNK. There is a point where the player says. Hey, my name is actually pronounced like this! And few commentators will talk about it, while others continue to make it up as they go.

Okay, I'll give it a crack.

CNK: Rotate with TT when he cops too many clothlines. TT to play finals.
Barnett: rest him as per his current injury plan. Barnett to play finals.
Metcalf: Sub in for Boyd when that top 4 spot is all but locked in/ Boyd needs a break.
TMM: Backup in case Metcalf doesn't work out for whatever reason.
Marata: Fires the tshirt cannon at home game, preferably at the lower east stands.

But yeah, what a selection headache.
