The Boyd tackled after kicking penalty in the second half was soft. But earlier in the tackled count there was a missed high shot. Or the first half Boyd got taken high after kicking and it was missed. So, there was calls the Warriors could easily query as well.

i personally supported the penalty on Volkman for the tackle on Boyd. Too much risk of injury to the kicker on those sorts of tackles even though it wasn't late I agree. Most people don't tackle the kicker they just run up and pressure him and then sort of hold him safely round the waist so the kicker can't join the kick chase.

For all the doubts about Healey pre-game, I thought he really showed what he can do when given extended minutes last night. He's just never been given enough minutes in a game to showcase it properly this year. He was great for us last year in the few matches where Egan was out (Sharks at Sharkpark and Phins at home) and showed it again last night. No doubt we still lose something when it comes to distribution and service when Egan goes off. But Healey's running game is next level and offers another dimension to our attack. For the first time in a long time we have genuine speed in our team to go along with our power game.

Another thing I wonder about is Laban's role in the team with Capewah coming back in. He only played 23 minutes last night and subbed on for Leka in the second half with Capewah playing 80. If we were to give Capewah a rest and have a back row of Leka/Laban, I think we would be a lot more damaging in attack.

Just think Capewell is an out and out 80 minute player and could handle the middle for a stint if called upon

Yeah as long as capewell is in the team leka and laban will need to share the minutes, hopefully they rotate starting and bench to just have a rest throughout the season

Laban's time will come next year. The spot will be his. I think we'd like to get as much time out of Capewah as possible before he goes back home. He's been a good servant and deserves to keep going IMO.

Consistency is their issue yet and aren’t at that level that Capewell showcases each week when playing I reckon. There’s not a lot between Capewell’s best and worst, it’s generally pretty high class in the pressure he creates on defence. Not saying our young guys aren’t doing extremely well, that’s just the difference between that experience and youth. Again though following on from last week, Vaimauga is going to another level

It must take some real balls to hold the ball knowing you’re about to collide with a few big bastards on the opposition. Halasima’s first try was a beauty off a Boyd short ball to punch through that hole but he didn’t have the same nerve to hold the ball going into collisions on occasions whereas Vaimauga relishes it

Yeah I remember how there were a few that were unsure or outright against the fans having the teams 'secret special little songy wongy' (same issues as the Up the Wahs thing really).

We hired a bunch of young talented people to do our events days.

If you're not gonna listen to the experts then why hire them eh?

They hired the right group of young people to make this stuffy code more accessible to everyone.

Our match day nights are amazing, no more gimmick black outs, black outs are the norm, decent lighting tech, flames, like we hired a proper events promotion company or smthn.....

The old Warriors would have seen the resurgence and tried to do something daft like take a game to Eden Park or release new special jerseys - while playing like shit on the park....

We are in a new era.

As an aside it was interesting to see Webster mention that Agar and Cappy watched the tape on Jackson Ford and identified what we are seeing now before we hired him.

Again that is about the Warriors hiring specialists in specialized roles and more importantly listening to them.

I wonder how much attitude has to do with identifying the right recruits? I look at so many of the players that have come to Warriors and become better players and I look at a player like Spencer Leniu who has regressed so much since joining the roosters to his role at panthers

Sutton looks really out of touch with the new game compared to the young Referees.

Call me cynical but the old guard tend to dish out a couple of six again's or penalties for the home team like script (lemme sooth the Ref lovers in here, I am not finished) I suspect the reason they do this is that they tend to watch one side at a time (that is how you get home side bias then the second half square ups etc, coz frankly the Ref is not good enough - or too biased by their own habitual narrowed perception of the play.

Long story short, Sutton needs to go. Him and Klein are past it.

yeah, 100 % agree - It was bizarre some of those calls - of course I'm watching the impact to our side more, so when the first set extending call happened on the 5th I just felt aggrieved, then on the 3rd or 4th time it happened it became a dull ache - pinged during the peak momentum of a well made tackle was an injustice i became used to
