Pick Your Team NZ Warriors v Newcastle Knights - [Round 3, 2026]

Even though Barney and Fish are our best to props, I’m thinking for team balance, I’d keep Ford starting and give him his standard 70mins. Barney comes on after 30mins and takes Fish’s spot and gives us that hard D either side of 1/2 time. Him and Demi can run amuck while Clark and Fish rest up. Once we get Fish, Barney, Demi and Clark all playing together, that’s as tough as any other pack in the comp. Add in probably our 2 form fords to date, Leka and Ford, then that pretty potent.
The longer Ford plays 70-80mins in the middle week on week as the season progresses the errors and ruck infringements will surely return.

Hopefully Webby doesn't continue with it long term when Barnett returns, or he'll burn out long before the finals.

TIdy Ford was there early season last year at least from my memory, then with the injuries he started playing those bulk minutes and it slowly unravelled.

Weather forecast for Saturday suggests cloudy with some chance of rain. I think that is good for us because if this becomes another grind affair in the wet, our power advantage will be made to bear. I have faith in whatever contingency plan Webby has for 6 given the strength of our next man up mentality. If Barney returns this week, let him start off the bench as others have suggested. But if he isn't fully ready, I'd give him another week off. Our young boys in the middle are only getting better each week and will be bristling with confidence after the way we demolished the Raiders pack.

CHT out so will CNK continue there, options ars limited at the moment. Maybe Hanson to debut but I doubt it. Also TT deserves to start.

Gannon to come in frim the bench. Unless Webby goes foe Niukore. Personally I would go for Niukore, as I think Fords minutes needs to be managed better, especially until Barnett is back.

Probably their current spine right now Smith/Crossland/sore Sharpe/whoever the hooker is

I think they’ve improved a lot on attack like us but we should roll over their middle without even been flash
It will be 1. Sharpe 6. Gamble 7. Smith 9. Crossland

I'd keep Sharpe in halves and play Fletcher Hunt at fullback but doubt they do that.

Hanson will be on the extended bench I'd imagine.

CNK at 6 gives you defensive stability, which Webby will take every day of the week. CNK isn't a gun at 6, but get him on a dryer track in Newcastle and he'll offer a bit more with the ball at least.

Boyd is providing something besides kicking this year, so with TT's ability to ball play out the back I feel comfortable with CNK given our other options.

I mean he looked poor there on Friday. His passing/link play is absolutely terrible and doesn’t draw too much attention from the opposition defence when taking the line on. I wish Taine did some reps at 6 over the past few pre-seasons because he would be a gun filling in there

That's what I mean by if we get him on a dryer track in Newy, that will help at least a touch.

Also if hes named there, he'll get the whole week of training there which helps.

TT would be getting heavy traffic his way if we lined him up at 6. I don't think that would be a viable option at least at NRL level, he'd be spotted up big time. Defending as last line with a smaller frame is easier than defending front line with edge backrowers having 20 runs at you.

I think if there is a half on the extended bench it will be Cleary. Too much risk not to have him if anything happens to Boyd.

Think there was a bit of a 1/6 job share going on there. Taine is definitely defending at fullback, and CNK in the line, but on attack Taine was touching the ball far more than CNK usually does when he’s at the back.

Its good use of both players, at some point in the game they’ll probably have TT kick on the last just so they can’t rush Boyd every time.

Game will all be about concentration and not taking the opposition lightly, it really does not matter who plays where, if they have the same attitude they'll win easily, if they make errors and aren't defending the same it will be close.

With the teams respective form, I’ll be stunned if we don’t win by 13+

We can pick anyone and it doesn’t matter who they lineup.

Given their outs, we should rack up 40 points for the third week in a row. I can see us hitting 50!
The knights lost 2 players and then towelled up Manly. Lets not count our chickens just yet.

*At 4 Pines Park with a W/L record of 4 from 23 prior
