Pick Your Team NZ Warriors v Newcastle Knights - [Round 3, 2026]

There's been no indication that Cassius Tia has been given a Supplementary contract so he is ineligible to play.
Gannon has just 4 of of his 73 first class matches as a 6, and his side only won once.
Neither bloke is a realistic chance to start in the role

Hanson doesn't fill me with a huge amount of confidence going off pre season, cnk, tt or Egan into 6?

I guess we need to know what the outcome of CNK's HIA assessment. If he passed, I'd go with him at 6 for this week and Taine in at fullback. Otherwise bring Hanson in. He had a great combo with TB in cup last year and I'm sure he can hold the fort for one week before CHT returns.

As for forwards, Barney comes back to start if he is ready with Ford returning to bench. If not, Ford starts and Niukore comes onto the bench for mine, with Leka moving to start:

1. TT
2. DWZ
3. Ali
4. Poms
5. RTS
6. CNK/Hanson
7. Boyd
8. JFH
9. Egan
10. Ford/Barney
11. Leka
12. Laban
13. Erin

14. Healey
15. Niukore/Ford
16. Demi
17. TSS

18. Gannon
19. AKP

Even though Barney and Fish are our best to props, I’m thinking for team balance, I’d keep Ford starting and give him his standard 70mins. Barney comes on after 30mins and takes Fish’s spot and gives us that hard D either side of 1/2 time. Him and Demi can run amuck while Clark and Fish rest up. Once we get Fish, Barney, Demi and Clark all playing together, that’s as tough as any other pack in the comp. Add in probably our 2 form fords to date, Leka and Ford, then that pretty potent.

All true but you know the go bro...this is the pick a silly team thread.

I should have clarified on Gannon that his life as a stand off was as an amateur.

Good to know on Tia, so some media (real sports media - sorry no sauce I was watching Fox but) said Tia was released from the dogs on compassionate grounds, so that scrubs any rumor mongering.

So basically he is a charity case that the Warriors threw a life line to....to help a brother out.

I’m an internet doctor and I think they should give Sharpe another week to recover as well

Probably their current spine right now Smith/Crossland/sore Sharpe/whoever the hooker is

I think they’ve improved a lot on attack like us but we should roll over their middle without even been flash

I don't mind this while Barnett eases his way back in off the bench.

Brown and Ponga very likely out against us lol
This happened to them last year or something similar the Knights and they play much better without their talisman, as they have to unite and play like a team and as a team. They will be really hard next week. Much harder now in my opinion. They now won't play run and gun next week.

They finished with the wooden spoon after missing Ponga for half the season mate..

But you can't take any team lightly in the NRL, I don't expect us to drop off though.
