This one’s a bit more difficult for me to judge. Fullback is reliant on attacking stats to get those 50+ scores bar probably Tedesco. So using Parramatta; before injury Iongi was averaging about 24 touches in attack per game. He had 1 try assist and 2 tries. They are averaging 24 PPG which is healthy enough but in comparison teams who have scored similar amounts of points, their fullbacks have a much higher attacking touch count. Drinkwater for example has 175 attacking touches (~44 per game) for 1 try and 6 try assists.
Jahreem Bula averages 31 attacking touches per game for 3 try assists and 1 try.
So for teams who have scored a similar amount of points it tells me that Parramatta don’t give their fullback as many touches in attack which in turn leads to less attacking stats.
All that said, Makasini at centre is all base this year. If Papalii can get any kind of attacking stats this week I’d expect him to score higher than Makasini. Even with the Tigers averaging over 30ppg so far, Makasini doesn’t reap the attacking stats.
Parra leak 40 ppg and Tigers 17. So it should be a flood of points for the Tigers on Monday.
Of course this is all eye test and armchair stats, Makasini probably comes out this week and scores a 70 just because.
