And now to contradict everything I’ve just said, I’m breaking one of my fantasy rules. “Never sell a player that still has money to make” under normal situations I feel Seyfarth and Metcalf are both strong holds. I think they should both still make $100-$150k over the next 8 rounds. But I missed Humphries and really want Gilbert (68 in base is too much for me to ignore)
I’m telling myself that should mean my team is sorted for the short term (but we all how that works out in fantasy) other than the fact it hadn’t occured to me that my last minute swap from JC to Hopgood means I’m likely down a WFB for round four.

Yea I have had to go Metcalf to Humphrey's gonna be left behind if I don't. Seyfarth has one more week 😅

Yeah, I’d be surprised if Seyfarth isn’t back to scoring mid forties regularly in a few weeks. I’m normally stingy when it comes to trades so it’s weird I’m ditching him. I think going so poorly last year has shaken me up.
Also, I love spamming up this thread. I hope people don’t put too much weight into my opinions. This games just a guessing game after all and these are just my guesses. I’m just an overly enthusiastic player, not an expert.

If you miss out on Humphries you will be left behind. In two weeks he will likely be up $100k that everyone else has that you don’t.
Sideways trading is a big no no In Fantasy, a five point shift in points is only normally worth it when going up to an elite level player.
Value is king in Fantasy. What are they priced at and what are they going to score, should be the question you are asking.
Thanks Fizurg

The casual athlete has whyte on their definite sell list and it impacted me

Do you think his minutes will go down from the 49 minutes in the first game to low 40s for the rest of the season and that he is a sell

I don’t always trust the casual athlete to be honest
Last week he was saying stick with jack bird even though he wasn’t a starter. Naturally I ignored this advice and dropped him.

He has a regular guest on his show the guest said he is trading in Metcalf for Humphrey’s while longy said he is sticking with Metcalf one more week as he is said Metcalf is a more talented player with more pedigree than Humphrey’s and not be taken in by the score of 75 first round

Whyte is a trade - but my question, is he the trade to make this week, he's making money. I'd target players who are losing $$ and aren't known quantities or bad match ups.
I think I'd burn Leiataua first. Bring in Tamale for Leiataua = 152k in the bank. Both dual WFB/CTR, but more upside to Tamale and gives you $$ to fix other areas.

Im my opinion Whyte is a hold and did exactly what you hoped he would. Got decent minutes, and made $12k. Thats great for round one. His role is shakey but for at least the next few weeks he should continue to do well. If you aren’t happy with that then he really wasn’t a guy you should have started with.
Leiataua on the other hand also did what was expected by most players. He was very expensive for an unproven player and outside backs in bad teams rarely score well. He would be straight out of my team.

I have done the Metcalf to Humphreys trade too.
And got rid of Bird for Hamish Stewart who has better job security than the Roosters rookies and more game than Hubner and Kai Odonell is warming Nanais spot
I had Bird as a starting centre last week but can bring Toia or Tamale from my reserve bench.

Longy is a very good player but it’s actually been quite a while since he’s done particularly well. I think I won it twice a decade or so ago. I value his input but nothing anyone says is gospel.
(I’m actually against him in a head to head match this week, will let you know how I go)
Jamie Brown has never cracked the top 100 either.
I like to get my information from a few places and then form my own ideas. Something i think you are particularly good at. But as a word of advice staring from the pack, especially when you are newish to the game will usually end in tears.
I can’t see your team and don’t know how much cash you have left in the bank. But from what I’ve read. Whyte and Grant wouldn’t be the players I’d be looking at trading this week. Those are luxury trades and it’s waaaay too early in the season for that. I know you have three Warriors players and Metcalf is a hold but the others are hard to justify keeping. Humphries, Horse, Duffy, Tamale, Toia. If you missed any of those, they should be targets. We are actually spoilt for cheap players with value this season. If you don’t grab these guys by round ten you will be $1m behind and then you’re in big trouble.
As always, this is just my 2c. Back your own judgement.

Ended up on 903 last week, made a poor choice with my captain and had Humphreys in my reserves 🤦. Would’ve loved to get Haas or Ponga in this week but can’t justify the trades it would’ve taken. Will stick with my team and see how much cash I can add this week and try and get one of them next week.

Thanks @Rizzah @Fizurg @tyrael

On the basis of your advice making sense I have deferred the Whyte trade to next week or at least when other rooster players return. I also note his BE is only 23 points this week so that clinched it for me. It is possible the "cost of the upgrade" next week will be slightly lower.

So my trades have ended up being
1) the Top Elite hooker for next tier down quality hooker.
2) Purdue traded out for Tamale

Next week I will look at moving whyte. I want to hold on to Ali L one more week just to make sure he is not going to score points. Same with Metcalf. I can look to jettison both if they don't perform.

Last year Ali played 6 games and averaged 41 fantasy points per game. that seems to indicate his 21 points in round one was an outlier. Luke Metcalf playing stand off last year played 7 games and averaged 33. Which is actually a reason to sell so i will have him on a short leash.

Hey Wrighty, I know last year was your first year playing so I'm keen to hear your thoughts on what a successful season would be for you.

Are you happy making it to the top 8, or are you wanting to win the whole thang.

I think it's a fair question for the Wahs as a team too...at this rate id be pretty chuffed for us to just be playing finals footy

South Sydney recruit Lewis Dodd’s full extent to his horror start to his NRL career can be revealed after he picked up a serious shoulder injury in the new year.
Dodd injured his AC joint at training. He played on in the trials despite the injury which has hampered his performances. The 23-year-old received injections to play in the trials but the delay in the kick-off for their hit-out against Manly meant the painkiller had largely worn off by the time he took to the field. His performances against Manly and St George Illawarra were severely restricted.

Dodd was spotted training in restricted duties this week as he makes his return to the field in NSW Cup after missing South Sydney’s round one win against the Dolphins because of suspension.

That suspension cost him a round one spot and opened the door for Manly recruit Jamie Humphreys to wear the No.7 jersey. Humphreys starred in the opener and will keep his position in the starting team ahead of their clash against the Dragons on Saturday.

No specific goals. Just do the best I can. I do want an overall ranking of top ten thousand after coming 42,000 last year

How about you??

I was a bit filthy I missed the finals last year so I plan on throwing my toys out of the cot and telling you all how shit this game is if I miss out again lol.
I hope you fair well.

How's your team looking...any potential trouble spots in your team like I do with three warriors?

Not a great first week as I had 6 DNPs. 4 in my 17 and 2 in my EMGs so could only cover 2 spots.
I tend to make 2 trades during the week rather than during the Round at the start but realise using trades just 'cos I can isn't the way to go.
I also have this thing about trading a Matching Player out before a Non-Matching Player.
So add that up to my admitted Warriors/Raiders proness and Storm/Sea Eagles antiness and I'm probably not going to visit tne top of the Warriors Official League...
