General NSW Cup 2025

Good to see Putoko get a run.
I have Bar TV but with referee clashes and other commitments have not caught any Flegg.
But I have seen him live several times over the last couple of years.
He has a non telegraphed late in and away to create space and is not a ball hog.
Puts a man in a hole too.
Although a quality outside back I see an ever better 6 lurking.

Lussick dropped down to a reserve in reserve grade. He went alright in the top side last year but seems lost now.

Not really playing within the top 30.
No one would have predicted this output from him this year, which includes a hatrick within 19 minutes!
Less resilient players would have left months ago on "compassionate" grounds.1000009669.webp

This isn't fair on him. I don't think this a laughing matter for us adults to be laughing at. He is probably genuinely miserable and is the third ranked hooker with no path to the NRL at the moment. He is probably holding on for Perth or PNG. I don't think people should be laughing at someone's else career being given the run around. This isn't funny at all.

What are the chances he’s here next year do you think?

I put it at 0.01%

They’ve just re-signed Makaia Tafua long term. He needs regular minutes in cup

They also probably want to try keep TMM for another year as a utility and flicking Lussick would help with that.

Don't think anyone is laughing at him (*sometimes it seems funny when he's named at prop, because that's crazy), I see people commending him for sticking it at and doing whatever it takes to help the team. That's exactly the type of mentality and drive you need in your players. I see that in a number of our NSW Cup guys.

Did you watch the NHL Finals this year Wrighty? I know you're brought up NHL in the past. I just witnessed one of the most dominant teams I have ever seen. They have done all the right things from the top down. There were some great moments when they won, like handing the trophy on first to the first time winners - that included players from the squad who were scratched during the finals. Those guys are usually dead last in line but they still help them get there, it's a long a season and it was great for those top guys to recognise them. Then the captain was back out on the rink at 1:30am raising the cup to the staff in the building. I get a similar sense of a wider squad mentality and belief in each other with the Warriors this season. I think that culture has also started here from the top down, it's great to see everyone buy in and the results it can bring.
