Depends on whether they fight the charge which in this case may be a good idea because he is going down and fighting it might at least prevent a life time ban if they can argue some mitigating factors....
He is gone for the season minimum you would think. This is the worst hit in years.
Really dunno with the Judiciary.
The problem he has is that the game was over bar the siren.
He runs up fast and blind shots a small player.
He knocks Tuapiki out completely unconscious.
I think the knocked out cold part is a big problem for the guy, given how we saw the Refs at the start of the season trying to send the NRL message about high contact.
He is a no name player so he is perfect for sending a message.
The NRL will take into account the medical report from the attending Doctor, which will say probable traumatic brain injury with loss of consciousness, GLasgow Coma scale blah blah....ugly stuff when you are knocked out cold...Tuapiki would have been transported to A and E in an Ambulance...not pretty.

Intent is not longer a mitigating factor with the high shots, it is duty of care now.

I would have still thought that whether or not he was intending to be a thug and hurt someone maliciously vs whether or not he was gunning for a big hero play would be considered under duty of care. The time of the incident is the biggest red flag, which tips it towards the petulant act of thuggery.
Hits him in the head, pretty hard to argue after sprinting in that you didnt intend to damage the guy, especially the Matai blind side hit eh bro.

I read he walked off the ground unaided and got the all clear to fly only a few hours later. Undoubtedly KO'd & concussed, hence not named this weekend, but fortunately it wasn't as severe as it could have been.

I would be surprised if the protocol did not include transport by the local Ambos at the ground to hospital as per protocol even with players that walk away after being fully unconscious.
In fact if that is not done as of routine then there is something wrong with the NSW cup protocols (cheap or a little gungho).
As you would imagine, being driven to hospital in a routine vehicle, should he start fitting or go into a coma road side and or choking on his own vomit....or stopping breathing....develop paralysis from an undiagnosed spinal compression or fracture as part of the being smashed in the head unconscious part, could be a problem for the team Doctor who probably does not have sirens on his car or flashing lights, or a defib etc...etc etc.
But hey, that is just me. I would not drive him, but these Doctors and Physios might do it routinely because it has never happened to them before.
And yes you can be cleared within a couple of hours in the absence of lingering symptoms, especially since he is an NRL player, so they have cognitive testing baselines that the hospital can be reassured about measuring his testing results against. Furthermore the hospital would be reassured knowing he is going to be flying with Doctor in situ monitoring him.
When I posted that the NRL would get a medical report saying suspected traumatic brain injury....that is just a provisional diagnosis, but it does not look pretty.
I imagine Taine was looking good during his time in assessment. Or this system the NRL slash NSW RL run is still bogus...thing about head injury is what we called good safety protocols ten to fifteen years ago, we would now call woefully inadequate. Not the Sports bodies fault, not anyone's fault, a simple fact of our very limited understanding of the brain.
There is a reason League players die on the field at grass roots grounds and a few hours after the game. Ole mate drove me home, he seemed all good.
