NRL NRL Rules

NRL have advised clubs that forming a “human shield” in front of a catcher to impede the kick chasers will be treated as obstruction
It always has been. They just stopped enforcing it at that level.

We're really benefitting from all the rule changes and crackdowns so far ..

Other than us, Penny and Storm; everyone seems pretty miserable about what's happening.

Personally, I hope we can ride them all the way to a premiership.

Just some thoughts, 3 changes and it’d be much better

- Attacking team to get 2 extra tackles when a HIA or injury interruption is called, otherwise trainers could just fake head knocks and kill the momentum at clutch moments, either way it kills the set every time at the moment

- Independent doctor to make the call and sit next to bunker and if HIA is called and bunker messes up with shoulder/arm on head contact then he gets fined match fee or suspended for a game- kinda a Katoa rule

- Ref to call PTB when player makes a bust or break and stands up trying to PTB, seeing too many get dragged down or have knock ons from defenders second efforts, if ref can call tangled standing tackles he can call here

In a major safety move, the National Rugby League has capped contact in training in a bid to reduce injuries including concussion.

Reports reveal all 17 NRL and 12 NRLW clubs have been informed of the development, with guidelines limiting the minutes of contact in both in-season and pre-season training sessions.

This is a link to a good article about it.

A change like this was going to be implemented at some point.

One interesting take is the contact time is inclusive of wrestling. Clubs are going to have to decide how they spit their time between the wrestling matts or the footy field. Hopefully another items that helps remove the wrestle.

Likely teams will do more during the initial part of pre season.

Training is an ever involving thing. It will be interesting to see how clubs approach their training.
