The intense Round 25 NRL clashes dominated discussion, particularly the Panthers-Raiders thriller that ended in a stunning 23-22 golden-point victory for Canberra. User Leon Black #89 celebrated the dramatic finish despite his disdain for the Raiders, noting Fogarty's disallowed try resembled "CHT vibes." User Beastmode #86 and User sydneywarrior92 #104 emphasized this outcome significantly boosted Warriors' chances of reclaiming 4th place. Meanwhile, User Christchurch_Warrior #69 criticized Panthers players for blatant offside violations during the decisive play. Several users like User snake77 #115 observed that Canberra faced refereeing scrutiny similar to what Warriors fans often protest.
Refereeing decisions provoked widespread outrage, particularly in the Storm-Bulldogs match where Adam Gee reversed a penalty after Kikau reacted to Grant Anderson's head pat. User Lance155 #153 called it "the worst penalty of the year," while User Beastmode #155 accused Gee of favoring the Bulldogs. User Noitall #177 shared a news link highlighting broader criticism, amplified by User juju #178 stating Gee's Bulldogs bias was undeniable. User FormerlyJamesW #179 argued such on-field lobbying should be banned, advocating for exclusive use of the captain's challenge system.
Warriors fans expressed anxiety and cautious optimism about securing a top-four finish. User Bay39er #272 outlined complex ladder scenarios, stressing the team’s points differential was problematic. User sydneywarrior92 #246 countered panicked takes, asserting if the Warriors can't beat non-finalists like Eels and Manly, they "don’t deserve top 4." User Tookey 2.0 #247 acknowledged the Warriors seldom "make things easy," but User Zaggo #109 warned that squandering the Raiders’ gift against Titans would be catastrophic. Discussions also critiqued opponents: User Canonball #173 accused media of "gagging for a Dogs premiership," while User Beastmode #241 hoped to avoid facing Penrith in the finals.
Sentiment Analysis: Mixed. The tone fluctuates between excitement Raiders' upset, frustration refereeing controversies, and anxiety Warriors' finals prospects. High-engagement posts skew negative regarding officiating, though euphoric moments like Canberra’s win and criticism of rivals provide energetic positivity. Overall, apprehension about the Warriors’ consistency dominates.
Finals Positioning, Refereeing Controversy, Player Comparisons
We also got a drunk Marc Ellis.its insane how other NRL clubs can get Union players and get them to play at a high level...and all we got was a washed up John Kirwan and Mark Carter.
Still good preparation going into finals playing against a couple of the top halfbacks going aroundParra leaving everything out there tonight
Hopefully theres nothing left in the tank next week
Fair. But there have also been some great players (who have played for ABs) who have gone to have great league careers too.Well i mean one side has the choice between the wallabies and the other has the ABs. Kids in NZ dream of becoming a AB, kids in aus see rugby union as a backup, backup plan. A world of diffrence here.
They are often joined at the hip for Kiwi kids who just breathe oval ball sports and many top All Blacks nearly went over. Bulldogs went after a few in Jonah Lomu and Zinzan BrookFair. But there have also been some great players (who have played for ABs) who have gone to have great league careers too.
Frano Botica
John TImu
Vainga Tuigamala
Craig Innes
Matthew Ridge
all of them played their bulk of the careers at other league clubs. We got Ridge and Botica near the end of their careers. And these are All Blacks that made the switch....theres lots of other players below those levels who could be tempted or from 7s or even Fiji 7s teams etc. Other teams can do it, why cant we?
He’s a Dogs fanDan Ginane: "Dogs are not guaranteed top 4 but that is surely a formality, despite this loss".
Really? Are we sure the dogs are guaranteed to stay in the top 4? There is actually a very realistic scenario where the dogs miss out and we stay in.
Dogs finish the year against Penrith and Sharks. We finish the year against Tits, Parra and Manly. Sharks have Newcastle and then Dogs. So If dogs lose both those games and us and sharks win both, dogs will drop out of the four. We finish 3rd and Sharks 4th.
Another sad storydamnit Walsh. I had a multi on you.
Broncos really are flat track bullies. When it's time to roll up their sleeves and do the difficult work they struggle. Knights looked okay for about 10-15 minutes there and Broncos didn't have any answers.
They've got the talent that they'll probably piss another 2 or 3 tries in quite comfortably and win easy, but will largely look poor for a lot of the 2nd half I reckon
all good now. Multi is back on.Another sad story
