Chooks only have themselves to blame. They were leading all the games against top 4 opponents this year (including us) going into the final 12 minutes. Win all those and they are where we are. Instead they are probably 4 pts outside the 8 after the weekend is done.

there are still 6 weeks to go after this weekend. Plenty of time for the Hughes injury to take its toll. We just have to be patient. The opportunity to move up the ladder will present itself soon enough.
After Parramatta next week, the Storm have Brisbane, Penrith, Canterbury, Roosters and Broncos again.

The Storm have a soft underbelly this year and with Hughes out and Munster MIA, the Storm could really struggle.

While never counting out the Bellamy factor, I think they struggle to stay top 4.

I think I've been making this pt a few times in another thread. The media keeps assuming that we are the ones to drop out if either Brisbane/Penrith force their way into the four. I disagree. I'd make the case it is either going to be at the expense of Melbourne or Dogs. Melbourne for the reasons that you mention. Melbourne record without either Paps or Munster is actually pretty decent. But their winning record without Hughes shoots down dramatically.

As for the dogs, their run home isn't that much easier. They've essentially maxed out their games against the bottom 4, with only the tigers game remaining. All other games are against top 8 opposition (Sharks, Roosters, Melbourne, us, Panthers, Manly). None of those games you could predict in their favor with any confidence.

Although there's still a minor chance we miss the 4 if we cock up a game we shouldn't (ie one of the two home games coming up). But I'd say there's an even greater chance we move up to either 2nd or 3rd. We just have to be patient and wait for the Dogs/Melbourne to slip up. 6 weeks is an eternity in rugby league.

If Shibasaki isn’t for sale, I’d throw decent coin at Braidon Burns.
He has been injury plagued on and off for several seasons but looks really good now.
Don’t think he’d be on big money.
IMHO he is rep quality.
