NRL Round Discussion NRL Round 10, 2025 Discussion

Enjoyed Matty John’s description of the Storm culture on Sunday Night With… where he spoke about the Storm culture and ‘trying to honour the jersey. Whatever number. And your job is to leave that jumper in a better place’ - stolen straight from the All Blacks playbook. But man they are like a military unit. The way they play. There’s a group think that makes them perform. Not a die hard Melbourne fan but they are the kings of culture and getting that to drive results. Fun to watch!!

Hah, I literally got 0/8 on this forum's tipping this week after 7/8 last week 😅

Though in my defence I've been doing an experiment using only the tips from the Six Tackles With Gus podcast, where the Bulldogs games are the only ones I pick (Gus doesn't do a pick for those due to conflict of interest I guess!) and dumb Raiders didn't do the job!

So if I picked all myself might've got maybe 2 right 😅

I stand by this. The last ten minutes of Manly vs Sharks tied at 14 all turned into who would blink first and Manly showed they have some liability players on the field. Especially their young winger Hopoate. He was dreadful and Sharks got home in a game Manly should have won.

This will be a big call but I think where Sharks are missing is their half back Nicho - he is not getting them around the field or taking good offensive options. He is resting on his big reputation and thinking his reputation will score tries for his team rather than him doing anything proactive at any point in the whole match. The problem is he is still "decent" and finding someone better would mean finding an elite half back and those are as rare as hen's teeth.

Edit - Just to further this point 5 minutes later, Both Mitch Moses and Nathan Cleary appear in interviews to be more humble and unassuming than Nicho. Nico by contrast is very accepting of his stardom and how good he is.

Been calling Nicho out all year. Hes rubbish and just lucky he's surrounded by heaps of talent.

Trindall seems to have greater kicking duties this season, but Nicho has 12 try assists and 15 line break assists. Other than a couple of quiet games he's been excellent.

As you know, I agree - he's really bad. Trindell is running that team. Hynes can't straighten up an attack, and seems to be blind on one side when he runs - what I thought was funny in the last couple of weeks were the rash of articles about him saying how he was unburdened by expectation now and 'screw the haters' - there were a few of them, like he needed to told he was ok

Nicho got max Dally M points...

Nicho is in better form than AFB...
AFB's form is directly related to Nicho not running the lines for him.. admittedly they got one right last night... however I've been watching Nicho specifically for the last season and a half cos I didn't get the hype... I'm not changing my opinion on him easily ... not a half, probably not even a fullback now

He only does well on the front foot. Hynes' problem is when the game is going down to the wire, he never stands up. The way the sharks screwed up the tigers game is case in pt. Sharks are probably regretting letting LM go. They had a. natural born clutch player in their ranks, they just didn't know it. Instead, they went and spent millions on a flashy player that freaks out under pressure.
