NRL NRL General Recruitment Thread

You have to admit, that's pretty odd. The Dolphins coach is moving to Souths and already is taking one of his current club's players. At the same time making a tilt for the finals

Happy for Aitken. But a bit of a conflict of interest. Not that I care, just a bit odd
I think the Dolphins didnt want to offer Aitkin a longer contract so seems fairly straight forward business really

Sounds like Sitili Tupouniua might be heading to bulldogs. Eels interested in Brandon Smith and also sounds like panthers, storm, roosters, rabbits and raiders interested in Utoikamanu
Roosters backrower Sitili Tupouniua is set to leave the club with three years remaining on his contract and join the Bulldogs next season.

Foxsports.com.au can reveal Tupouniua met with Canterbury coach Cameron Ciraldo on Monday to discuss signing with the club from 2025.

The Roosters gave Tupouniua - who is currently contracted until 2027 - permission to talk to rival clubs after they thought they’d signed Titans backrower David Fifita.

Be closer to family in Sydney. Likely after a few enquiries from some clubs needing a front rower.

Even if he didn't have clubs engaging his interest. It is an advantage of Sydney having so many clubs. A player could in theory just move there and then find a club. A bit different if you want to be closer to family in Auckland, Newcastle or Melbourne as you have fewer options and need the only option to have a spot available or need someone in your position.

Wonder if Sitili does head to the bulldogs, whether Toni might head over with his brother? Seems to have gone missing from the nsw cup team? Along with Tanner Stowers Smith?

‘Have a look around’: Tigers’ big call as Utoikamanu given permission to go to market

The Wests Tigers have given star prop forward Stefano Utoikamanu permission to test his value on the open market, but the club “remains hopeful” they can convince their enforcer to extend his stay at the joint venture.

Utoikamanu has an option to remain at the Tigers in 2025, but that’s based on clauses which include the club making the finals and him playing two State of Origin matches for the Blues in 2024 having made his NSW debut last year.

The second part of the equation is already out of the question after he missed out on selection for game two, while the Tigers are highly unlikely to finish in the top eight despite a couple of terrific wins in recent weeks.

The Tigers have reportedly offered the 24-year-old a five-year deal worth roughly $4 million, with Utoikamanu now set to test himself on the open market with a host of premiership contenders desperate to sign someone of his calibre given how valuable props have become.

“We’ve sat down with Stefano, his partner Chiara, and his management, and we all want what’s best for him and his family,” Wests Tigers chief executive Shane Richardson said.

“Stefano has given us no indication that he wants to leave, but he does want to have a look around, and we are totally comfortable with that.”

The Tigers have made it clear how much they want Utoikamanu to stay, with teammates praising him throughout the season, while rookie coach Benji Marshall described him as one of the top three props in the game.

“We love Stef, and we’ve made it really clear with him that he’s a big part of our future,” Marshall said back in April.

“He’s definitely in the top two or three front-rowers in the game at the moment, and from the club’s point of view, we see him as a long-term prospect for us. We’ve expressed that to him.”

The Panthers could be one club that goes after him as they look to replace James Fisher-Harris, while the Storm have also been mentioned as a possible suitor.

Wednesday’s decision will give both the club and the player time to plan for 2025, with the Tigers set to have cash to splash if Utoikamanu decides to leave.

After the last two weeks will he stay. The money is good and they do have some promising players, potential superstars and some solid experience and Jerome Luai and Sunia Turuva for 2025.
I think the dark days are over and whilst they won’t make the 8 this year have more potential than a lot of other teams
He has been monstrous the last two weeks. Almost peak AFB like.

I wonder if it's more of a 'I can get x dollars at another club, match it and I'll stay'
