Interesting watching the soccer rivalry between the Phoenix and Akld FC …. A South Island NR” team would generate the same rivalry , if not more with the Warriors.
I was opposed to a SI team gaining entry into the NRL but slowly changing my thoughts, assuming they are okay financially

How is the Auckland team doing so well? Really hit the ground running!

Personally, I don’t see how the South Island getting a team is going to “take away” fans from the Warriors…..
How many South Islanders are paying members for the Warriors? (Excluding that 3 game deal members) Not many. So what are the Warriors *really* missing out on?

Question for our SI members…… If/when you guys get a team. Will you stop supporting the Warriors? (I mean literally stop btw)
If the answer is no. Well then it’s no harm no foul…. Obviously, SI comes first. But you can still support the Warriors.

Hell, I’ll watch/support a SI team. I not from nor do I live there. (I have though)

South Island ticks all the boxes besides money (IMO, but judging by others comments they don’t seem concerned) and geography.

Most of all player pool. For the millionth time, Canterbury is the best Rugby Union nursery in the WORLD…….. Period.
You watch in 5 years after establishing the production line and the quality of that player. Bank on it.

Same, I'd buy SI membership because I don't get up to Wahs games much, so they're not losing anything on ticket sales. Merch would be a different story, last year I saw more Warriors gear around than Crusaders. That Keas jersey's pretty sexy.

I disagree, other than a drop in merchandise sales down South Island. I don’t see how the Warriors lose much tbh.

Rugby league doing well in NZ is only a good thing for the Warriors. Imagine the interest that rivalry will generate

Much larger player pool as well with a bit of time.
